Abstract(s)
Abstract The present applied research study has as main theme “The relevance of nutrition in the development of physical fitness in the Military Academy cadet”. Its general purpose focuses on the important scrutiny of food intake by Military Academy 4th year cadets, regarding the performance of their daily physical training. As far as the execution of this study is concerned, the method used consisted of documental analysis of books, master’s thesis among others, whose content met the purpose of this work. Military Academy 4th year cadets attending the existing different courses were submitted to a survey so that the necessary data for this study’s completion could be provided. This survey sampling consists of twenty male cadets and ten female ones, representing a total of 30 4th year cadets. As most significant results after the work’s completion, one observes that the average daily caloric intake per day provided by the three meals served in the Military Academy canteen contains values enough for the Military Academy cadets to perform, on a daily basis, their normal tasks, this is, not including the practice of physical exercise. However, the values resulting from these three meals are not sufficient for cadets to practise the daily physical activities stated on their school timetables. According to the answers given by the cadets in the questionnaire, I have noticed that they take food during the periods between the meals served by the Military Academy, being this extra consumption fundamental for them to absorb enough caloric amounts in accordance to their high energetic spending throughout the day. The values obtained correspond to 87% for cadets who get enough quantities and 13% for those who don’t.
