This report, developed within the scope of the Master's Degree in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing, focuses on hydrotherapy as a non-pharmacological strategy to promote comfort during labor, within the scope of the Specialist Nurse in Maternal and Obstetric Health. The analysis is guided by Katharine Kolcaba’s Comfort Theory, emphasizing a woman-centered approach and the promotion of positive experiences throughout the pregnancy-puerperal cycle. The objectives were to describe the benefits of hydrotherapy, demonstrate the development of specialized competencies, and reflect on the training pathway undertaken. Methodologically, a narrative literature review on the topic was conducted, complemented by a descriptive and reflective approach to the interventions developed across different clinical training contexts. The results showed improvements in physical and emotional comfort, an increased sense of control among women, and enhanced integration of nonpharmacological strategies into practice. A relevant contribution to women’s empowerment and the involvement of significant others throughout the process was also observed. It is concluded that hydrotherapy constitutes a relevant intervention in promoting comfort and improving the childbirth experience, reinforcing the importance of its systematic integration and the need for continued research in this area.
