Abstract(s)
Assim, as competências
recorreu-se ao programa informático SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social
Sciences ®).
Introduction: Some of the most prevailing pathologies in Portugal are derived from bad eating habits, being one of the primary health determinants that are accountable for the totality of healthy years lost. (DGS,2017a). To promote healthy lifestyles, it is necessary to involve the patients during their own process. Therefore, health literacy competencies play a major role at achieving this behavioural change. (Parnell, 2015). The community intervention took place in a personalized health care unit (UCSP) in Lisbon, aiming to promote healthy eating habits. Methodology: A scoping review was applied with two main objectives. First, to map the existing literature in health literacy and secondly to determine health literacy’s influence to choose healthy eating habits. Furthermore, having the Health Promotion Model, proposed by Nola J. Pender, as a theoretical background, a Health Planning Methodology was applied. Moreover, to create the Situation Diagnostic, the Newest Vital Sign questionnaire (adapted and validated for the portuguese population) was applied. Additionally, the statistical analysis and testing was accomplished using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences®) technology. After prioritizing the identified problems, defining objectives and selecting the strategy, community health education sessions were held. Results: The Situation Diagnosis showed that 97.2% of the individuals does not make adequate consumption of fruits and vegetables and that 43.2% of the individuals has a high probability of functional health literacy in limited health. From the evaluation of the health education sessions, we verified that the established evaluation indicators were met. Hence, the specific goals were also accomplished. Conclusions: This project contributes to the promotion of healthy eating habits of the patients of the UCSP. This was accomplished through health education sessions based on the community functional health literacy. Moreover, it contributes to the development of a Nurse specialist in community health competences.
