| dc.description.abstract | O turismo é um setor de elevada importância económica e estratégica em muitos países. Por isso, as diversas oportunidades de negócio neste setor vão estar sujeitas não somente a intensa concorrência, mas igualmente a significativo escrutínio. O presente trabalho consiste num relatório de estágio, requisito necessário para concluir o Mestrado em Gestão Empresarial e Estratégica. O principal objetivo deste relatório é a elucidação das atividades realizadas no Hotel de Santa Justa e das principais capacidades e conhecimentos aprendidos durante a realização do estágio. Tratando-se de um trabalho académico, importa ainda explicitar o enquadramento teórico e a revisão dos estudos realizados. Para um hotel poder alcançar vantagem competitiva sobre a sua concorrência, é preciso dispor de informação fiável e acessível sobre o mercado, os clientes e as suas próprias operações. Toda a informação tem de ter qualidade, já que se assim não for, será o hotel a sair prejudicado em vez de extrair valor da informação. A qualidade de informação inicia-se na informação proprietária, ou seja, a informação do hotel sobre a sua posição financeira e patrimonial. É este aspeto que o presente estudo aborda em termos comparativos com os concorrentes diretos, sem descurar a análise do posicionamento do hotel, enquanto ‘hotel boutique’ e a evolução recente do setor do turismo em Portugal. | dc.description.abstract | The tourism sector is one of upmost importance in a number of countries. That is why there are so many business opportunities and that these opportunities are under permanent scrutiny, facing fierce competition. The present work consists in an internship report in order to earn the Master Degree in Management and Business Strategy. The main goal of this report is to enlighten about some of the activities performed in the Hotel de Santa Justa and about the main benefits and skills acquired during the internship. Being an academic work, it is also important to explicate the theoretical framework and to review past studies. For a hotel to be able to achieve competitive advantage over its competitors, it is necessary to have reliable and accessible information about the market, costumers and its own operations. All the information ought to be of high quality; otherwise it could possibly be a hurdle to the hotel instead of a driver of value. Information quality builds on proprietary information. Mainly the hotel information on its financial and equity position. The present study addresses this topic in comparative terms with the direct competitors, without neglecting the analysis of the positioning of the hotel, as a “boutique hotel” and the recent evolution of the tourism sector in Portugal. The internship and subsequent analysis brought about some suggestion on possible improvements and opportunities for future research. | pt_PT |
