Abstract(s)
Abstract In the current conflict, battlefield characteristics and all its surroundings, determine the possibility of using resources in which the soldier is not required to be physically designed. This is the case of the drones or, in tactical accuracy, UAS (Unmaned Aircraft Systems). In this sense, Drones provide to a military force, a distinct advantage, as they allow to project power, in various Operations Sites, without projecting significant vulnerabilities. With this study, it will be analyzed the use of Drones in the area of the manifestations monitoring. Therefore, we intend to perceive and describe how the use of Drones can help to support this type of operation, consequently is necessary to identify and analyze the strength of vulnerabilities, identify and analyze the implications of their actions, as well as determine and analyze the strengths and limitations of the Drones, and, also, understand which way of work, teams who operate Drones use, to ensure the fulfillment of its mission. The methodology is based on the three phases of the research process: conceptual, methodological and empirical. Therefore, a case study was conducted, in which we applied a qualitative and quantitative study of deductive nature and as sample all military Portuguese Army with practical knowledge in the employability of UAS and in monitoring manifestations. As a result, exploratory interviews were conducted, directed to the military of the first Battalion Mechanized Infantry (1BIMec) that attended the National Strength Deployed in the Operation Site of KOSOVO in 2014. After the development of the study, it was concluded that the Drones contribute to the coordination and synchronization of the Maneuver Force performing such missions.
