| dc.description.abstract | Com um alto nível de sucesso, a terapia com implantes dentários tornou-se o meio preferido de tratamento para a perda dentária. A peri-implantite é uma complicação biológica que pode ameaçar a sobrevivência dos implantes dentários. O tratamento da peri-implantite deve ser o mais precoce possível e visa travar a progressão da perda óssea peri-implantar, e em alguns casos reconstruir os defeitos existentes, de forma a garantir a longevidade da prótese implanto-suportada. Atualmente, o diagnóstico precoce e tratamento da peri-implantite é um desafio para o médico dentista. Na literatura científica estão descritas diversas possibilidades de tratamento e existe uma grande variabilidade de protocolos instituídos, mas não está definido um protocolo gold standard para a doença peri-implantar. Por outro lado, relativamente ao diagnóstico os métodos clássicos apresentam diversas limitações pelo que se torna importante rever os desenvolvimentos mais recentes nesta área. O presente trabalho consiste numa revisão bibliográfica sobre a peri-implantite, focando-se essencialmente nas novas abordagens relativamente ao diagnóstico e tratamento da mesma. A revisão de literatura foi efetuada por meio de pesquisa de artigos na base de dados Pubmed , Web of Science e Cochrane com as seguintes palavras chave: (peri-implantitis) OR ( biological complications) OR (peri-implant diseases) AND (diagnosis) OR (treatment). Foram incluídos artigos em Inglês, Francês e Português publicados nos últimos 10 anos. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | With a high level of success, dental implant therapy has become the preferred means of treatment for tooth loss. Peri-implantitis is a biological complication that can threaten the survival of dental implants. The treatment of peri-implantitis should be done as early as possible and aims to stop the progression of peri-implant bone loss, and in some cases to reconstruct existing defects, in order to guarantee the longevity of the implant-supported prosthesis. Currently, the early diagnosis and treatment of peri-implantitis is a challenge for the dentist. In the scientific literature, several treatment possibilities are described and there is a great variability of established protocols, but a gold standard protocol for peri-implant disease has not been defined. On the other hand, regarding diagnosis, the classical methods have several limitations, so it is important to review the most recent developments in this area. The present work consists of a literature review on peri-implantitis, focusing essentially on new approaches to its diagnosis and treatment. The literature review was carried out by searching articles in the PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane database with the following keywords: (peri-implantitis) OR (biological complications) OR (peri-implant diseases) AND (diagnosis) OR (treatment). Articles in English, French and Portuguese published in the last 10 years were included. | pt_PT |
