Abstract(s)
Os casamentos são, dentro dos eventos, acontecimentos que, apesar de terem tido uma
quebra nos últimos anos, se mantêm comuns às sociedades e culturas, a nível global. Apesar
deste decréscimo, este setor que sempre unirá as pessoas, tem revelado um aumento
tendencial em Portugal (Pordata, 2022).
O segmento do turismo de casamentos tem vindo a crescer significativamente no nosso
país, bem como o número de empresas que se dedicam a este segmento de mercado. São
cada vez mais as pessoas que o elegem como destino ideal para casar, tanto estrangeiros
como locais, pelas condições inigualáveis que apresenta.
A procura de diferentes experiências levou ao surgimento de novas atrações, gerando um
novo tipo de turismo de casamentos, os destination weddings, onde se podem conciliar o
casamento e a lua de mel, de forma mais económica. Portugal tem estado no top das
preferências como destino de casamento, sendo cada vez maior o número de pessoas e mais
variadas as nacionalidades que procuram o país para celebrar esse dia.
Observa-se uma tendência crescente, sobretudo entre os casais que querem uma
experiência intimista, convidando apenas os entes mais próximos, ou somente a dois. Esta
opção tem levado a que muitos noivos procurem fugir à tradição, realizando a cerimónia de
forma original (Oliveira, 2020). Os casamentos subaquáticos, cuja tendência tem vindo a
aumentar a nível internacional, aparecem como resposta a este desejo, verificando-se um
aumento dos destinos que oferecem a possibilidade de realizar este tipo de casamentos.
Esta investigação tem como objetivo analisar a sua existência e procura em Portugal,
tornando possível perceber se seria interessante implementar ou desenvolver esta área de
negócio, uma vez que poderá contribuir para a valorização da imagem do país e impactar
positivamente a economia nacional, que cada vez mais depende do turismo.
Foram entrevistadas empresas que organizam casamentos na praia e também inquiridas
pessoas solteiras, em união de facto que pretendam casar e pessoas casadas. A maior parte
das empresas afirmou ter interesse neste conceito, mas mantem-se, por enquanto, reativa à
procura. A maioria dos inquiridos desconhece o tema e demonstra algum receio na realização
da sua cerimónia de casamento debaixo de água. Contudo, alguns afirmam ter interesse e
curiosidade. É evidente o escasso conhecimento sobre esta matéria, por ser um tema ainda
pouco abordado, mas dada a tendência crescente que se verifica, sobretudo em países
tropicais, poderá vir a afirmar-se, num futuro próximo, em Portugal.
Within events, weddings are a special type of event that, despite witnessing a decrease in recent years, remains common to societies and cultures worldwide. Despite this, the wedding sector, which will always unite people, has shown an increasing trend in Portugal (Pordata, 2022). The wedding tourism segment has been growing significantly in our country, as well as the number of companies dedicated to this market segment. More and more people are choosing Portugal as the ideal destination for getting married, both foreigners and locals, due to the unique conditions it has to offer. The search for different experiences has led to the emergence of new attractions, generating a new type of wedding tourism, destination weddings, where weddings and honeymoons can be combined in a more economical way. Portugal has been at the top of wedding destinations, with an increasing number of people and nationalities electing Portugal to celebrate their wedding day. There is a growing trend, especially among couples who want an intimate experience, inviting only their closest loved ones or even celebrating alone. This option has led many brides and grooms to escape tradition by performing the ceremony in an original way (Oliveira, 2020). Underwater weddings, whose trend has been on the rise worldwide, appear as an answer to this quest, resulting in an increase on the destinations that offer the possibility to perform this type of weddings. This research aims to analyse its existence and demand for in Portugal, allowing us to understand if it would be interesting to implement or develop this business area, as it may contribute to improve the country's image and positively impact the Portuguese economy, increasingly dependent on tourism. Event companies that organize weddings on the beach were interviewed, as were single people, non-married couples that wish to get married and married couples. Most of the companies stated that they are interested in this concept, but remain, for the time being, reactive to demand. Most of the respondents demonstrate poor knowledge about the topic and show some anxiety in performing their wedding ceremony under water. However, some claim to be interested and curious. It is clear that there is little knowledge about this subject, as it is still a scarcely approached topic, but given the growing trend, especially in tropical countries, it might gain relevance in Portugal in the near future.
