Abstract(s)
This study aims to understand the influence of music in psychomotor development. Rhythm, as one of the basic components of music, implies movement, as Jacques Dalcroze and Carl Orff uphold, making music and physical-motor expression an implicit and desirable association. Children are capable of developing rhythm, combining what they hear with what they do, gaining control over the movement of their bodies and synchronizing it with music. Not only in its rhythm component, the presence of music in physical education is also an important tool in cognition, sociability and affectivity development, contributing to children's motivation and allowing them to express freely. This research was based on studies by several authors and in interviews with three vastly experienced professionals of Physical and Motor Education Field. They've contributed with a detailed and specific view about the subject in matter based on their professional training and work experience.
