Abstract(s)
This project aims to analyze the perceptions of the elements of a local team of early intervention (ELI) about their typical practices as professionals and practices that they consider ideal. Based on the Families in Natural Environments Scale of Evaluation Services (FINESSE) (McWilliam, 2000), we decided to analyze and compare the practices of professionals from a typical ELI the practices that they consider ideal. The results of this study will contribute to a reflection on changes that eventually could be introduced, in order to reduce the discrepancy between the typical practices and best practices. The results show that professionals reported differences between current practices and best practices in a relevant set of dimensions, implementing practices primarily focused on the child and to a lesser extent, on increasing the skills and confidence of the family. We hope that the results contribute to a reflection of changes that eventually could be introduced, in order to reduce the discrepancy between typical practices and best practices
