Abstract(s)
No entanto, a coccidiose é pouco descrita nessas aves.
Psittacidea are very popular domestic birds, they can be found worldwide even though they are mostly present in the tropical regions. Nevertheless, coccidiosis is not much described for those birds. Coccidia belongs to the Apicomplexa branch and is described regarding Psittacidae, although few species are identified. Coccidiosis can be intestinal or extra-intestinal, it often presents few specific symptoms like bloody diarrhea, mucoid, apathy or weight loss. The diagnosis is often made from the oocysts found in the stool. The treatment is based on anticoccidial specific to the parasite and control requires a good hygiene and a coprological examination. The purpose of this work is to establish a bibliographic review on the current knowledge of coccidiosis in Psittacidae.
