Nos últimos anos tem-se verificado o aumento da longevidade que conduz muitas vezes a situações de dependência a diversos níveis. Estas situações são, maioritariamente, causadas por demências, que limitam o individuo no desempenho de algumas, se não todas as atividades de vida diárias.
A demência de Alzheimer é responsável por mais de metade de todos os casos de demências. Está associada ao envelhecimento, conduzindo à morte dos neurónios, provocando perda das capacidades mentais e capacidades físicas, dependendo de caso para caso e dos estádios de desenvolvimento (Leitão, 2006).
Devido à perda progressiva de autonomia, os portadores da demência de Alzheimer, carecem de assistência de terceiros no dia-a-dia para realizarem as atividades de vida.
O convívio com portadores de demência de Alzheimer, muitas vezes não é pacífico, devido à irritabilidade, agitação, e tendência para a insolência, o que requer diversos comportamentos.
Pretende-se conhecer os impactos no desenvolvimento do trabalho quotidiano percecionados pelos profissionais que cuidam e interagem com os clientes portadores da demência de Alzheimer de um lar de idosos, permitindo, fomentar ações e direcionar estratégias que levem à prevenção e à melhoria da qualidade de vida para todos, mediante a realização de um estudo, este de cariz qualitativo, elegendo-se a entrevista semi estruturada.
In recent years there has been increased longevity which often leads to situations of dependency at different levels. These situations are mostly caused by dementia, which limit the individual in the performance of some, if not all activities of daily life. The Alzheimer's disease is responsible for more than half of all cases of dementia, is associated with aging, leading to the death of brain cells, causing loss of mental capabilities and physical capabilities, depending on case to case and stages of development (Leitão, 2006). Due to the progressive loss of autonomy, patients of Alzheimer's dementia, lack of third party assistance in day-to-day to carry out the activities of life. The interaction with individuals with Alzheimer's disease often is not peaceful due to irritability, restlessness, and tendency to hubris, which requires different behaviors. Aims to meet the developmental impacts on the daily work perceived by the professionals who care for and interact with clients suffering from Alzheimer's dementia from a nursing home, allowing, encouraging direct action and strategies that will lead to prevention and to improving the quality of life for all, by conducting a study, this qualitative nature, electing to semi-structured interview.
