Abstract(s)
Neste sentido, no decorrer do estágio a aluna

Over the years, the human-animal bond has become increasingly closer, the veterinary team has obtained more qualifications and advances in veterinary medicine have occurred, resulting in an increase in the life expectancy of domestic pets. During the internship the student performed geriatric care with the canids present in hospitalization and surgery, offering quality of life and wellbeing to these animals, trying to relate the age factor with the diseases associated with each patient; focusing on intensive care, prevention and treatment. The data obtained were related to the internship period, in which 70 dogs were 6 or more years old, submitted to consultation, in these, there was a higher incidence of some type of neoplasms. In conclusion, older animals have a relatively high frequency of pathologies, with higher prevalence in large and purebred animals. Being that small or mixed breed animals have a higher life expectancy, revealing an increased importance in medical monitoring for a geriatric dog
