Abstract(s)
The present study aims to identify to what extent cleaning workers in hospital environments are exposed to psychosocial risks at work resulting from their activity and the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, and whether workers' perception regarding exposure to psychosocial risks varies in function of the sociodemographic and socioprofessional characteristics of the group of professionals under study. A questionnaire survey was applied covering the dimensions of professional fatigue, occupational stress, burnout and coping strategies and the pandemic context in the relationship with the company and family. The use of the survey allowed a quantitative approach, through the quantification of the results obtained. 99 participants were obtained from a universe of 277 workers in 3 hospitals in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region. The data collected shows that this professional group may be on the threshold of higher levels of distress and burnout, compared to other professional groups in a hospital environment. From the analysis carried out on the data, the following dominant variables were obtained: the level of satisfaction with working conditions, the levels of tiredness before and after the working day. It was also found that, in general, the population is in advanced age groups, given the workload necessary to carry out cleaning activities. Regarding the level of psychosocial health, at least for this group of professionals, we can conclude that the company is at a moderate level. Therefore, it is recommended that the company starts by defining an action plan, based on Psychosocial Risks and including in its Occupational Health and Safety campaigns, also Health promotion campaigns.
