A importância da formação e educação de técnicos de radiologia em segurança em ressonância magnética

| dc.description.abstract | A segurança em Ressonância Magnética é uma temática de extrema importância devido aos diferentes riscos associados aos campos eletromagnéticos que esta técnica utiliza. A atração/torção de objetos, o aquecimento e a eletroestimulação são os efeitos mais frequentes e são capazes de originar acidentes catastróficos. Desta forma, o conhecimento nesta área é de elevada importância para que este tipo de exame se realize em segurança, tanto para o doente como para os profissionais. Diz a literatura que os profissionais de saúde que têm bem presentes os conceitos básicos da Ressonância Magnética não são, necessariamente, os mais entendidos na área da segurança relacionada com esta modalidade. Por este motivo, o objetivo deste estudo é demonstrar a importância de haver formação deste tema, avaliando o impacto que a mesma tem no nível de conhecimento dos Técnicos de Radiologia participantes. Para tal, foi feito um teste de conhecimentos antes e após a realização de uma formação de “Segurança em Ressonância Magnética”. A amostra utilizada é constituída por 30 indivíduos. Todos os participantes são Técnicos de Radiologia e um terço destes nunca exerceu funções na modalidade de Ressonância Magnética. No início do estudo, 20% da amostra considerava ter um nível fraco de conhecimento na área, enquanto que após a formação apenas 3.3% continuou com essa perceção. Verificou-se também que após a formação, houve um aumento de 10% dos técnicos a considerar que tinha um nível de conhecimento intermédio e de 6.6% dos técnicos a considerar que tinha um nível elevado. Os resultados obtidos através dos testes aplicados antes e após a formação demonstraram que todos os participantes alcançaram uma pontuação mais elevada no segundo teste, o que nos permite concluir que a formação teve um impacto positivo em 100% dos técnicos. | dc.description.abstract | MRI Safety is an extremely important topic due to the different risks associated with the electromagnetic fields that this technique uses. The attraction/twisting of objects, heating and electrostimulation are the most frequent effects and can lead to fatal accidents. Therefore, knowledge in this area is of high importance to ensure that this type of examination is conducted safely, both for the patient and professionals. The literature says that healthcare professionals who are well aware of the basic concepts of Magnetic Resonance Imaging are not the most knowledgeable in the area of safety related to this modality. For this reason, the objective of this study is to demonstrate the importance of training in this topic, evaluating the impact it has on the knowledge level of the participating radiologic technologists. To do this, a knowledge test was conducted before and after a “MRI Safety” training session. The sample used consists of 30 individuals. Of this group of radiographers, one-third have never worked in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging modality. At the beginning of the study, 20% of the participants considered themselves to have a low level of knowledge in the field, whereas after the training, only 3.3% still held this perception. It was also observed that after the training, there was a 10% increase in the number of radiographers who considered themselves to have an intermediate level of knowledge, and a 6.6% increase in those who considered themselves to have a high level of knowledge. The results obtained from the tests applied before and after the training showed that all participants achieved a higher score in the second test, allowing us to conclude that the training had a positive impact on 100% of the radiographers.
