O conceito de dignidade nas pessoas idosas: uma revisão de literatura

Introdução: O respeito pela dignidade humana é um dos valores fundamentais da prática de
Enfermagem. Na criação da rede de cuidados continuados existiu, igualmente, a preocupação
de garantir o direito à dignidade da pessoa em situação de dependência. Sendo a dignidade
humana um conceito abstrato e por vezes ambíguo, interessa-nos perceber qual é o significado
e a importância que os idosos lhe atribuem. Metodologia: Utilizou-se a metodologia de
revisão integrativa. Os artigos obtidos foram sistematicamente pesquisados electronicamente
em bases de dados. Resultados: Na primeira fase de pesquisa obtivemos oitenta e quatro
artigos. Da análise dos resumos e da leitura mais aprofundada de alguns artigos seleccionamos
sete artigos. Os estudos realizados sobre o tema da dignidade adoptam, maioritariamente
uma metodologia qualitativa de abordagem. Discussão: Embora realizados em países
diferentes, existiu uma coerência nos resultados obtidos. Pode-se explicar esta coincidência
pelo facto de apenas termos obtido estudos realizados no continente europeu. Isto reflecte a
posição teórica dos bioeticistas, uma vez que é na bioética continental que este tema se tem
desenvolvido com maior impacto e relevância. Conclusão: Foi possível perceber que o respeito
pela dignidade é um dos fatores mais importantes na satisfação pelos cuidados recebidos
referido pelos idosos.
Introduction: Respect for human dignity is one of the core values of nursing practice. In the creation of continuous care network also existed a concern to ensure the right to human dignity in situations of dependency. Being human dignity an abstract and often ambiguous concept, interests us realize what is the meaning and the importance that older people give it. Methodology: We used the methodology of integrative review. The articles obtained were systematically searched electronically in databases. Results: In the first phase of research were eighty-four articles. Analysis of summaries and further reading some articles we selected seven articles. The studies conducted on the topic of dignity adopt mostly a qualitative methodological approach. Discussion: Although performed in different countries, there was a consistency in the results obtained. One can explain this coincidence because we obtained only studies in Europe. This reflects the theoretical position of bioethicists, since it is in mainland bioethics that this issue has developed with greater impact and relevance. Conclusion: It could be observed that respect for dignity is one of the most important factors in satisfaction with the care received by the elderly.
