Abstract(s)
Suicidal behaviors in adolescence have increased in Portugal and in the World, being a public health problem, where the prevention and performance of mental health professionals is preponderant by recurrence and increased risk of death. It is a multifactorial phenomenon, in which self-injurious behaviors are described by young people as a strategy for emotional regulation, and there may not be a suicidal intention. Although studies do not clearly prove the most effective interventions, different strategies are being implemented to reduce mental suffering, including with families. In this sense, two internships were carried out in the hospital and community areas with the aim of acquiring skills as a Nurse Specialist in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, where it was possible to develop specialized interventions in the psychotherapeutic, sociotherapeutic and psychoeducational scope in adolescents with self-injurious behaviors, individual and group, based on Afaf Meleis's Theory of Transitions, which were made known in this report and which had an influence in reducing the risk of these behaviors.
