Abstract(s)
The person with intellectual development disorders, in human perception, has no right to enjoy his sexuality. Society surrounds the disabled person with myths, beliefs, prejudices, discriminatory attitudes, forgetting that they are human beings with affective and sexual needs, satisfactions, desires, impulses and pleasures that must be accepted. These project, intituled Sex Education in Young Adults with Intellectual Development Disorder, to contribute to aimed the affective maturation of the individual, making him more independent; guiding him to the correct behaviour in interpersonal and social relationships; and finally, to provide them with tools to better guide their decisions on this subject. Following an action research methodology, we initially collected information through document analysis. At the beginning and end of the implementation of the Sex Education Program created for the study, we assessed the participants knowledge and what the effect of this program implementation had been on them. We also conducted an interview with a professional from the institution where the study took place. This study involved the planning and holding of eleven sessions, adapted to this audience, with different themes and activities within the theme of sexuality, four of these sessions were only for informal conversations and implementation of an initial evaluation questionnaire (before the application of the final) (after program implementation), the final analysis of all these activities gave us access to the final conclusions. With this study we realize that a Sex Education program is effective for people with intellectual developmental disorders. This intervention must be carried out continuously in order to enable these people to have an adequate sex education and skills to behave in a way to be socially accepted.
