Abstract(s)
Tuberculose Bovina.
Bovine tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the agent Mycobacterium bovis, which mainly affects the respiratory tract, but can compromise other systems. Its most common transmission is through inhalation of aerosols and affects a wide range of hosts, including man. Given its zoonotic potential, the disease represents a major danger to public health, with the main veterinary risk group and all those who have direct contact with infected animals. Currently in Portugal, a program for the eradication of bovine tuberculosis is implemented with the aim of making the entire national territory officially free. To provide a detailed overview of tuberculosis, both in terms of the disease and in terms of prevention, control and its zoonosis status, a bibliographic review on it is presented. The choice of the internship location fell on the Veterinary Hospital of Portalegre - Clilegre because it is a local reference hospital and because it allows contact with several cattle farms. About the activities developed, the student had the opportunity to transpose theoretical knowledge into practice, performing various tasks at the level of pet animals as well as production, accompanying some explorations that were being kidnapped by Bovine Tuberculosis. The student helped in the fulfillment of the bovine tuberculosis eradication program, more specifically in the diagnosis phase. All monitoring will be reported in this report.
