Abstract(s)
Pheochromocytoma is an uncommon adrenal gland tumor in dogs. In fact, the signs are paroxysmal and unspecific. In addition, complementary means to diagnose this type of tumor are limited in veterinary medicine. Thus, this article aims to present a clinical case of a pheochromocytoma in a dog, describe the diagnostic approach and the therapeutic procedure adopted. This case occurred in a 10-year-old dog with a malignant pheochromocytoma in the right adrenal gland. His diagnosis followed a recurrent condition of Prostatomegaly. This case has the particularity of associating two competing endocrine pathologies. In addition, the malignancy of the tumor was confirmed as well as its vascular invasion of the caudal vena cava, forming a partially obstructive thrombus. This study will show the existing diagnostic limitations, as well as the complexity of the treatment of choice, the adrenalectomy of the gland in question associated with a caudal vena cava venotomy. Finally, this article will review the main aspects for successful management of similar cases
