Abstract(s)
Objectives: It is intended to identify the frequency of post surgical problems in the academic years between 2012/2013 and 2014/2015, in order to raise awareness and improve the performance of future students of the Masters Degree in Dentistry in the area of surgical performance. Materials and Methods: Through consultation of 3440 processes of the academic years between 2012/2013 and 2014/2015 I intend to identify cases in which there were post surgical complications, as well as cases where everything went as expected. Still intend to see if some individual variations such as comorbidities, usual medication, sex, post surgical medications have influenced the results. Conclusion: Post-surgical complications in dentistry are rare and are mostly reversible and have been statistically validated. Regarding the individual factors that were related to the existence or not of postoperative complications: sex, medication, associated pathology or post-surgical medication, only in the last one, post-surgical medication, that we could associate variables. Studies and the prescription of medication mostly in more complex surgeries suggest that this would be expected, because the greater the complexity and time elapsed in the surgery, the more likely it is that complications will arise. Therefore, there may be bias in results suggesting that this is due to the medication, however it may only be due to the surgery performed and the complexity inherent in it.
