Abstract(s)
With the present investigation, we seek to analyse the complementarity or overlap regarding the phenomenon of terrorism of the intelligence produced by the Security Services, that is, intelligence which contributes to the safeguarding of internal security and the prevention of sabotage, terrorism, and espionage, and the intelligence produced by the Police Forces, resulting from their activity, with a view to preventing criminal activity and phenomena, making their operations more effective facing of new risks and threats. The research path was developed according to the object under analysis, that is Security Intelligence and Police Intelligence, assuming a guiding role in the whole process, was adopted a typology of applied research, following the development of the research with a deductive reasoning methodology and based on a qualitative research strategy, this essay was divided into three stages in the form of five chapters, supported by document analysis and semi-structured interviews . As a corollary of this investigation and main contribution to knowledge, this work proves to be relevant for the Intelligence Services and Security Forces in Portugal, as we deepen and develop a controversial and sensitive subject, the Intelligence’s, specifically the Security and Police Intelligence, and that in relation to the phenomenon of terrorism, they complement each other, despite their different sources of research and collection of data, news and information.
