Abstract(s)
A liderança é, reconhecidamente, um fator essencial para o sucesso de uma organização. Numa instituição complexa, como a Polícia de Segurança Pública, esse fator liderança é, não raras vezes, um fator crítico de sucesso das equipas.
Com o presente trabalho, propomo-nos a estudar quais as competências de liderança que os líderes na escala de chefia direta, no caso os Chefes das Equipas de Intervenção Rápida, devem possuir para retirar um elevado desempenho dos elementos da sua equipa.
Realizou-se um estudo baseado no método quantitativo através da aplicação de um inquérito por questionário a elementos pertencentes a Equipas de Intervenção Rápida com elevado desempenho.
Como resultado desta investigação verifica-se que os elementos das equipas de melhor desempenho identificam como fatores mais presentes nos seus líderes as sub-variáveis da liderança transformacional, “Consideração Individualizada”, “Carisma” e “Estimulação Intelectual”, por esta ordem, e em menor medida as sub-variáveis referentes à liderança transacional, “Recompensa Contingencial” e “Gestão por Exceção”, assumindo estas valores médios consideravelmente inferiores.
Leadership is recognized to be an essential factor for the success of an organization. In a complex institution such as the Public Security Police, leadership is often a critical success factor. With this work, we propose to study what leadership skills leaders in the range of direct leadership, like the commanders of Rapid Intervention Teams should, must have to reach high performance levels. We conducted a study based on quantitative method by applying a questionnaire to elements belonging to Rapid Intervention Teams with high performance. The result of this investigation shows that the elements of the best performing teams identify in their leaders more factors of transformational leadership such as, "Individualized Consideration," "Charisma" and "Intellectual Stimulation" than factors related to transactional leadership like "Contingent Reward" and "Management by Exception".
