O objectivo geral deste estudo centra-se na problemática do relacionamento e afectação das dimensões pessoal, familiar, profissional, institucional/organizacional, sistémica, local e societal da identidade do patrulheiro e almeja precisar e compreender o papel da patrulha no seio desta complexidade.
A investigação decorreu em Esquadras do COMETLIS, Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP), onde foram seleccionados os sujeitos do estudo, obedecendo a um conjunto de parâmetros previamente definidos. Para a recolha dos dados, utilizámos a técnica da entrevista semi-estruturada, com o método das histórias de vida e os dados recolhidos sujeitos a análise de conteúdo.
As conclusões do estudo demonstraram que os patrulheiros percepcionam e sentem nas suas vidas o trabalho da patrulha, reconhecendo o fraco apoio da organização, da qual construíram uma imagem negativa. Desejariam ter o apoio e o reconhecimento devidos, visto que a patrulha desempenha um papel essencial no equilíbrio das dimensões da identidade do patrulheiro e para a imagem da instituição.
Em síntese, os entrevistados reconheceram, ainda, a importância de se apoiar e dignificar a patrulha, de modo a repensar as suas necessidades, o tipo de horários e, nomeadamente, as transferências internas, de modo a dignificar o trabalho da patrulha.
The main object of this study is focused on the problematic of the relationship and affectation of the dimensions personal, familiar, professional, institucional/organizacional, sistemic, local and societal of identity of the patrolman, and longs for the need and the understanding of the role of the patrol in all this complexity. The investigation occurred in several police stations of COMETLIS (Metropolitan Command of Lisbon), from PSP (Public Security Police), where the subjects of investigation were selected, obeying to a set of parameters, previously selected. In order to collect data, we used the semi-structured interview technique, with the life stories method and the collected data, being a subject to an analysis of content. The conclusions of the study demonstrate that the patrolmen perceive and feel, in their professional everyday life, recognized that is important the support of the institution/organization, building, this way, an image of the institution which is negative. They wish to get more supports and consideration, since the patrol plays an essential role in the balance of the dimensions of the identity of the patrol craft and for the image of the institution. In conclusion, the interviewees still recognized the importance of supporting and dignifying the patrol, in order to rethink their needs, the kind of schedules and, namely, the internal transfers so the work of the patrol is dignified.
