Abstract(s)
Abstract The collection of information is essential both for planning and for the performance of the various military operations that are carried out. Thus there are essentially three aspects that should be taken into account and evaluated, including the opposing forces, terrain and the weather conditions. All of them are perfectly tuned and have direct and indirect influence upon each other. More specifically, we consider that the strategic movements of the actors and the smallest tactical details of campaigns and battles are entirely related with the geographic information available to decision makers and performers. Thus it appears then that the Geograpgic Information System play a decisive role in terms of military help to the decision maker. We will therefore examine the importance of GIS in the support to military decision.
