O presente estudo, subordinado ao tema âInfluĂȘncia das CompetĂȘncias de
Liderança dos Oficiais Subalternos de Cavalaria no Compromisso dos Subordinados â,
tem como principal finalidade identificar e caraterizar os comportamentos dos Of iciais
Subalternos de Cavalaria do ExĂ©rcito PortuguĂȘs que mais influenciam o compromisso
dos subordinados, fazendo com que estes se comprometam de forma elevada com a
tarefa ou a Instituição , contribuindo assim, para a identificação das lacunas na årea do
comportamento organizacional, em c ontexto militar, nomeadamente quanto à liderança
e ao compromisso dos subordinados.
Para o estudo foi implementado um inquĂ©rito por questionĂĄrio de competĂȘncias da
liderança, composto por seis dimensÔes da liderança, e um questionårio do compromisso
que contempla quatro dimensÔes O inquérito foi aplicado a uma amostra de 145 militares
dividida por duas categorias (40 Sargentos e 105 Praças).
No que respeita às dimensÔes da liderança os subordinados das vårias Unidades de
Cavalaria percecionaram de diferentes formas os comportamentos de liderança praticados
pelos seus comandantes, sendo que a Ășnica em que os comandantes se focam na orientação
para as tarefas Ă© o Regimento de Cavalaria nÂș 3 em Estremoz, os restantes sĂŁo
percecionados como tendo um comportamento orientado para as relaçÔes interpessoais.
Os resultados indicam que das quatro dimensÔes do compromisso em estudo, nas
Unidades de Cavalaria os subordinados comprometem-se ao nĂvel emocional, ao nĂvel
racional e ainda se esforçam por ajudar os restantes a esforçar-se, ou seja, esforço
discricionĂĄrio.
Ainda, conclui-se que os Oficiais Subalternos praticam diferentes comportamentos
de liderança que influenciam no compromisso dos subordinados, nomeadamente,
âorientação para a missĂŁo pelo exemplo e Ă©ticaâ, âtomada de decisĂŁo e planeamentoâ,
âvisĂŁo do ambiente externo e internoâ, â coesĂŁo, trabalho de equipa e cooperaçãoâ, âgestĂŁo
de conflitos pela transparĂȘnciaâ e âliderança participativa e envolvimentoâ.
Abstract This study, entitled "Influence of Leadership skills of Cavalry Junior Officers in the Commitment of their Subordinates", has as its main purpose to identify and characterize the behavior of the Portuguese Army Cavalry Subalterns that most influence the commitment of their subordinates, leading them to commit themselves to carry out their tasks and to the institution. Thus contributing to the identification of gaps in the area of organizational behavior within the military context, namely leadership and commitment. to carry out this study a survey was implemented consisting of a questionnaire about leadership skills, taking into account the six dimensions of leadership and the four dimensions of commitment. This survey was applied to a sample of 145 soldiers divided into two groups (40 Sergeants and 105 Corporals and Privates). With regard to the dimensions of leadership subordinates of several cavalry units perceive differently the existing leadership behaviors in their commanders, and the only one where commanders focus on guidance for tasks is the Cavalry Regiment 3 in Estremoz , the others are perceived as having a behavior oriented to interpersonal relations. The results indicate that from the four dimensions of commitment under study, in the Cavalry Units the subordinates commit themselves to the emotional level, the rational level and still strive and help the others to strive, which is discretionary effort. It can also be concluded that the Junior Officers practice different leadership behaviors which influence the commitment of subordinates, in particular âlead by example and ethicsâ, âdecision-making and planningâ, âview of external and internal environmentâ âcohesion, teamwork and cooperationâ, âconflict management transparencyâ and âparticipative leadership and involvementâ.
