Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho de investigação tem por objetivo caracterizar o apoio logístico
prestado às forças militares nas colónias portuguesas de África. Tem como estudo de caso a comparação das campanhas militares de Angola e de Moçambique e a adaptação do apoio logístico às necessidades das várias expedições em combate nos dois teatros de operações durante a 1ª Guerra Mundial.
Como objetivo geral deste trabalho pretende-se analisar como foi realizado o apoio
logístico nos teatros de operações de Angola e de Moçambique e perceber se este apoio foi
ou não o necessário às forças militares empregues nas operações militares durante a 1ª
Grande Guerra. Durante o decorrer da investigação foram elaboradas várias questões derivadas com o intuito de responder à questão central “Como foi processado o apoio logístico às forças militares portuguesas em Angola e Moçambique durante a 1ª Grande Guerra?”.
Para a elaboração deste trabalho de investigação a metodologia utilizada enquadrase na pesquisa e investigação histórica baseada na consulta e recolha de informação, e
consequente tratamento de fontes primárias impressas complementada com outras fontes
bibliográficas nacionais, através da pesquisa documental, diretamente relacionadas com o tema a explorar.
Desta análise conclui-se que, durante a 1ª Guerra Mundial, apesar dos esforços feitos para que o apoio logístico fosse capaz de assistir a todos os pedidos efetuados pelas forças empenhadas nas operações militares este não conseguiu chegar a todas as frentes, por vezes, pela falta de material, outras, por falta de pessoal, ou ainda devido à desorganização dos serviços administrativos sediados nas colónias. Houve, no entanto, um
melhoramento do apoio logístico durante o decorrer das campanhas.
Abstract This research work aims to characterize the logistical support to military forces in the Portuguese colonies in Africa. Its case study comparing the military campaigns in Angola and Mozambique and the adaptation of logistical support needs of the various expeditions in combat in two theaters of operations during 1 st World War. As a general objective this study aims to examine how we performed the logistic support in Angola and Mozambique operations theaters and realize whether or not this support was the necessary for the forces employed in the military operations during the 1st World War. During the course of the investigation several issues arised in order to respond to the central question "How was processed the logistical support to the Portuguese military forces in Angola and Mozambique during the 1st World War?" For the development of this research the methodology fits in historical research and research-based consultation and information gathering, and the consequent processing of printed primary sources supplemented with other national bibliographic sources, through documentary research directly related to the topic exploring. From this analysis it is concluded that, during the 1st World War, despite the efforts made for the logistical support to be able to watch all the orders placed by agencies engaged in military operations this did not managed to reach all fronts, sometimes by lack of material, others for lack of staff, or due to the disruption of administrative services based in the colonies. There was, however, an improvement in logistics during the course of campaign.
