Abstract(s)

Uma das actuais missões do Exército é a autoprotecção das suas Unidades Estabelecimentos e Órgãos, contribuindo a Artilharia Antiaérea para esta. Contudo face à escassez de meios esta protecção é em muitas das vezes comprometida, quer por falta de meios quer por falta de Planos de Defesa do País. Com a elaboração deste trabalho pretende-se dar um contributo para o Sistema de Defesa Aérea Nacional, com a elaboração de um plano de Defesa Antiaérea, respeitante à Região Autónoma da Madeira. Neste plano vamos aplicar todos os meios que actualmente as Forças Armadas têm ao seu dispor, em especial a nossa componente; o Exército, e dentro deste em particular a Artilharia Antiaérea. Contudo irá ser necessário abordar os restantes Ramos das Forças Armadas, pois só desta forma iremos conseguir chegar a uma Defesa Aérea de forma plena em que os três Ramos trabalham de forma integrada. Como tal procedemos a um estudo da importância estratégica da Região em questão, Região Autónoma da Madeira, de forma a justificar a necessidade de esta ter um plano de Defesa Antiaérea actualizado. Desta forma foram elaborados alguns modelos de defesa, tendo nestes integrados apenas os meios que o Exército possui actualmente, passíveis de serem projectados em caso de necessidade para a Madeira. Na investigação levada a cabo efectuámos primeiramente uma pesquisa documental, mas como esta apresentou algumas lacunas, procedemos à realização de entrevistas às entidades que estavam mais à vontade para tratar deste tema, “A Defesa Antiaérea da Madeira”.

Abstract One of the current missions of the Army, with the involvement of Air Defence Artillery, is the self protection of its units, institutions and organs. Nevertheless, due to either lack of means or to the lack of defence plans of the country this type of protection is often jeopardized. Hence, the main goal of the present study is to contribute in some way for the National Air Defence System, by means of elaborating an Air Defence plan for the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The referred plan will integrate all the means currently in use by the Armed forces, especially those concerning the Army and, within it, the Anti-aircraft artillery in particular. However, a reference will be made to the other branches of the armed forces, for a complete Air Defence has to have an interaction of all three branches. The present study also deals with the strategic importance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, in order to explain the need for the same region to have an updated Air Defence plan. For the same reason, some defence models were prepared, though only integrating the means which are presently available for the Army and that can be projected to Madeira in case of necessity. The research carried out for this study started with a documental database research and was concluded and completed with some interviews and inquiries that proved to be most useful for the thorough understanding of the central theme of this study “The Air Defence Artillery of the Madeira”.
