The Curricular Units, Internship of a professional nature with report - Module I and II, are part of the Master´s Degree in Community Nursing in the area of Family Health Nursing at the Nursing School of Porto, where the activities developed within their ambit took place in a Family Health Unit. According to regulations no. 140/2019 and no. 428/2018 of the Order of Nurses, these aimed to highlight the development of common competencies for specialized nurses and specific competencies for nurses specialist in community nursing in the area of family health nursing. In line with these competencies, two general objectives were established for their development: Caring for the family, as a unit of care, and for each of its members, throughout the life cycle and at different levels of prevention and Leading and collaborating in intervention processes within the scope of Family Health Nursing. The care provided to the family was based on the Dynamic Model of Family Assessment and Intervention, which has the Calgary Model of Family Assessment and the Calgary Model of Family Intervention as its theoretical basis, and the Transitions Theory was used for its members. These theoretical models are important because they guide and support the design of nursing care for families and their members, as was seen in these internships, which, based on the best scientific evidence, resulted in health gains by empowering families to mobilize their strengths and resources in the face of identified needs, through the dynamic and flexible systemic perspective of assessment and intervention in families in transition to parenthood. In this regard, consultations were held that allowed for family assessment and intervention, made possible by data collection using systemic family interviews, the use of validated instruments, decision-making and critical judgement using systemic intervention techniques, referral to other units using the resources available to meet specific needs and the respective assessment of care. Of particular note was the dynamization of information systems and technology to improve family health outcomes with the start of the development of a mobile application, presented through a training process for the Family Health Unit nurses, as well as the development of a Scoping Review protocol and participation in scientific events. In this way, we collaborated in disseminating knowledge in family health nursing, in line with professional and personal development.
