- Identifying New International Customers for Alfândega Porto Congress CentrePublication . Dhekra Lachheb; Victor TavaresThis report describes the internship I carried out at Alfândega Porto Congress Center (APCC) that lasted for a period of 400 hours, between the 12th of September and the 21st of November. The APCC is a leading event management organization in Porto that hosts events from domestic and foreign customers. Besides, the venue offers internship opportunities to the students in need for practical knowledge about how the congress centers operate in general. The internship as an opportunity to relate what we have learnt during the academic course and what we learn in the practical framework. Thus, during my master internship, I had a first professional approach to the field of events organization. I was then, in charge of four main tasks related to event organization, marketing and commercial activities, and finally conducting and analyzing a survey. All the activities that were carried out had an objective of contributing to attract new international customers to the venue. The purpose of this report is to explore new ways for bringing new international customers for the APCC. For that goal, this study starts with the organization diagnosis and problematic, followed by a technical-scientific justification and going through the methodology and the activities developed in the internship, ending with its reflection and recommendations, which can contribute for a better operation in the venue in terms of marketing.
- Relative Modification of Prompt ψ(2S) and J/ψ Yields from pp to PbPb Collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=5.02$ TeVPublication . CMS collaboration (2274 authors); Nayak, Aruna; Bargassa, Pedrame; Beirão Da Cruz E Silva, Cristóvão; Calpas, Betty; Di Francesco, Agostino; Faccioli, Pietro; Ferreira Parracho, Pedro Guilherme; Gallinaro, Michele; Hollar, Jonathan; Leonardo, Nuno; Lloret Iglesias, Lara; Rodrigues Antunes, Joao; Seixas, Joao; Toldaiev, Oleksii; Vadruccio, Daniele; Varela, Joao; Vischia, Pietro; David Tinoco Mendes, Andre; Silva, Pedro; Musella, Pasquale; Pela, JoaoThe relative modification of the prompt ψ(2S) and J/ψ yields from pp to PbPb collisions, at the center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV per nucleon pair, is presented. The analysis is based on pp and PbPb data samples collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2015, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 28.0 pb-1 and 464 μb-1, respectively. The double ratio of measured yields of prompt charmonia reconstructed through their decays into muon pairs, (Nψ(2S)/NJ/ψ)PbPb/(Nψ(2S)/NJ/ψ)pp, is determined as a function of PbPb collision centrality and charmonium transverse momentum pT, in two kinematic intervals: |y|<1.6 covering 6.5
- Probing the W tb vertex structure in t-channel single-top-quark production and decay in pp collisions at $ \sqrt{s}=8 $ TeV with the ATLAS detectorPublication . ATLAS collaboration (2852 authors); Aguilar-Saavedra, Juan Antonio; Amor Dos Santos, Susana Patricia; Anjos, Nuno; Araque, Juan Pedro; Carvalho, João; Castro, Nuno Filipe; Conde Muiño, Patricia; Da Cunha Sargedas De Sousa, Mario Jose; Fiolhais, Miguel; Galhardo, Bruno; Gomes, Agostinho; Gonçalo, Ricardo; Jorge, Pedro; Machado Miguens, Joana; Maio, Amélia; Maneira, José; Oleiro Seabra, Luis Filipe; Onofre, António; Pedro, Rute; Santos, Helena; Saraiva, João; Silva, José; Tavares Delgado, Ademar; Veloso, Filipe; Wolters, HelmutTo probe the W tb vertex structure, top-quark and W -boson polarisation observables are measured from t-channel single-top-quark events produced in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 20.2 fb$^{−1}$, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Selected events contain one isolated electron or muon, large missing transverse momentum and exactly two jets, with one of them identified as likely to contain a b-hadron. Stringent selection requirements are applied to discriminate t-channel single-top-quark events from background. The polarisation observables are extracted from asymmetries in angular distributions measured with respect to spin quantisation axes appropriately chosen for the top quark and the W boson. The asymmetry measurements are performed at parton level by correcting the observed angular distributions for detector effects and hadronisation after subtracting the background contributions. The measured top-quark and W -boson polarisation values are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions. Limits on the imaginary part of the anomalous coupling g$_{R}$ are also set from model-independent measurements.
- Combined fit of spectrum and composition data as measured by the Pierre Auger ObservatoryPublication . Pierre Auger collaboration (399 authors); Abreu, Pedro; Andringa, Sofia; Assis, Pedro; Barreira Luz, Ricardo Jorge; Blanco, Alberto; Cazon, Lorenzo; Conceição, Ruben; Diogo, Francisco; Espadanal, João; Lopes, Luis; Pimenta, Mário; Santos, Eva; Sarmento, Raul; Tomé, BernardoWe present a combined fit of a simple astrophysical model of UHECR sources to both the energy spectrum and mass composition data measured by the Pierre Auger Observatory. The fit has been performed for energies above 5 ⋅ 10(18) eV, i.e. the region of the all-particle spectrum above the so-called 'ankle' feature. The astrophysical model we adopted consists of identical sources uniformly distributed in a comoving volume, where nuclei are accelerated through a rigidity-dependent mechanism. The fit results suggest sources characterized by relatively low maximum injection energies, hard spectra and heavy chemical composition. We also show that uncertainties about physical quantities relevant to UHECR propagation and shower development have a non-negligible impact on the fit results.
