- Relatório de estágio - Tomografia computorizada em Neurorradiologia traumática: Aspetos técnicosPublication . Mata, Anicolette; Valentim, ManuelO presente relatório apresenta uma descrição e análise reflexiva das atividades desenvolvidas ao longo do estágio, que se realizou na Área de Diagnóstico por Imagem (ADPI) do Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Central - Pólo do Hospital de S. José (HSJ), num equipamento de Tomografia Computorizada (TC) de 16 cortes. O estágio foi especialmente dirigido para a Área de Neurorradiologia traumática. O relatório encontra-se dividido em quatro capítulos: (i) capítulo I - fundamentação teórica e perspetiva analítica relacionada com as principais temáticas do estágio, princípios e história da TC com ênfase na sua evolução, princípios de aquisição e reconstrução de imagem e escala de Hounsfield. (ii) capítulo II - abordagem da anatomia do sistema nervoso central, células nervosas, encéfalo, meninges, líquido cefalorraquidiano (LCR), anatomia da medula espinal e principais patologias traumáticas associadas aos traumatismos crânio-encefálico e vertebro-medulares. (iii) capítulo III- caraterização do serviço de radiologia do HSJ, principais características do equipamento de TC utilizado, bem como descrição das atividades desenvolvidas no decorrer do estágio, (procedimentos técnicos, protocolos utilizados e alguns casos clínicos). (iv) capítulo IV- análise crítica, importância do estágio enquanto elemento de valorização profissional e por fim aspetos positivos e negativos. Apresentam-se ainda, as principais conclusões assim como uma reflexão final sobre todo o processo de estágio. Este estágio permitiu desenvolver e aperfeiçoar os protocolos de aquisição de imagem, processamento de imagem e estratégias de intervenção no doente politraumatizado, reforçando as competências profissionais.
- Centrality and rapidity dependence of inclusive jet production in $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 5.02$ TeV proton-lead collisions with the ATLAS detectorPublication . These quantities are measured in datasets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 27.8 nb −1 and 4.0 pb −1 , respectively, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2013. The p+Pb collision centrality was characterised using the total transverse energy measured in the pseudorapidity interval −4.9<η<−3.2 in the direction of the lead beam. Results are presented for the double-differential per-collision yields as a function of jet rapidity and transverse momentum ( pT ) for minimum-bias and centrality-selected p+Pb collisions, and are compared to the jet rate from the geometric expectation. The total jet yield in minimum-bias events is slightly enhanced above the expectation in a pT -dependent manner but is consistent with the expectation within uncertainties. The ratios of jet spectra from different centrality selections show a strong modification of jet production at all pT at forward rapidities and for large pT at mid-rapidity, which manifests as a suppression of the jet yield in central events and an enhancement in peripheral events. These effects imply that the factorisation between hard and soft processes is violated at an unexpected level in proton–nucleus collisions. Furthermore, the modifications at forward rapidities are found to be a function of the total jet energy only, implying that the violations may have a simple dependence on the hard parton–parton kinematics.

The fiducial cross section for this process is measured in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb-1, collected by the ATLAS detector in 2012. Events are selected using the W boson decay to eν or μν as well as requiring two isolated photons. The measured cross section is used to set limits on anomalous quartic gauge couplings in the high diphoton mass region.

- Observation and measurement of Higgs boson decays to WW$^*$ with the ATLAS detectorPublication . Evidence for the vector-boson fusion (VBF) production process is obtained with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations. The results are obtained from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 25 fb−1 from s=7 and 8 TeV pp collisions recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. For a Higgs boson mass of 125.36 GeV, the ratio of the measured value to the expected value of the total production cross section times branching fraction is 1.09-0.15+0.16(stat)-0.14+0.17(syst). The corresponding ratios for the gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion production mechanisms are 1.02±0.19(stat)-0.18+0.22(syst) and 1.27-0.40+0.44(stat)-0.21+0.30(syst), respectively. At s=8 TeV, the total production cross sections are measured to be σ(gg→H→WW*)=4.6±0.9(stat)-0.7+0.8(syst) pb and σ(VBF H→WW*)=0.51-0.15+0.17(stat)-0.08+0.13(syst) pb. The fiducial cross section is determined for the gluon-fusion process in exclusive final states with zero or one associated jet.
