ATLAS collaboration (2894 authors); Aguilar-Saavedra, Juan Antonio; Amor Dos Santos, Susana Patricia; Anjos, Nuno; Araque, Juan Pedro; Cantrill, Robert; Carvalho, João; Castro, Nuno Filipe; Conde Muiño, Patricia; Da Cunha Sargedas De Sousa, Mario Jose; Do Valle Wemans, André; Fiolhais, Miguel; Galhardo, Bruno; Gomes, Agostinho; Gonçalo, Ricardo; Jorge, Pedro; Lopes, Lourenco; Machado Miguens, Joana; Maio, Amélia; Maneira, José; Marques, Carlos; Onofre, António; Palma, Alberto; Pedro, Rute; Pina, João Antonio; Pinto, Belmiro; Santos, Helena; Saraiva, João; Silva, José; Tavares Delgado, Ademar; Veloso, Filipe; Wolters, HelmutA search for the neutral Higgs bosons predicted by the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is reported. The analysis is performed on data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The samples used for this search were collected in 2012 and correspond to integrated luminosities in the range 19.5-20.3 fb$^{−1}$. The MSSM Higgs bosons are searched for in the τ τ final state. No significant excess over the expected background is observed, and exclusion limits are derived for the production cross section times branching fraction of a scalar particle as a function of its mass. The results are also interpreted in the MSSM parameter space for various benchmark scenarios.
- Measurement of differential cross sections for the production of a pair of isolated photons in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7\,\text {TeV} $Publication . CMS collaboration (2227 authors); Hollar, Jonathan; Nayak, Aruna; Calpas, Betty; Bargassa, Pedrame; Beirão Da Cruz E Silva, Cristóvão; Faccioli, Pietro; Ferreira Parracho, Pedro Guilherme; Gallinaro, Michele; Nguyen, Federico; Rodrigues Antunes, Joao; Seixas, Joao; Varela, Joao; Vischia, Pietro; Lloret Iglesias, Lara; David Tinoco Mendes, Andre; Musella, Pasquale; Silva, Pedro; Pela, Joao; Leonardo, NunoA measurement of differential cross sections for the production of a pair of isolated photons in proton–proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7\,\text {TeV} $ is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 $\,\text {fb}^{-1}$ collected with the CMS detector. A data-driven isolation template method is used to extract the prompt diphoton yield. The measured cross section for two isolated photons, with transverse energy above 40 and 25 $\,\text {GeV}$ respectively, in the pseudorapidity range $|\eta |<2.5$ , $|\eta |\notin [1.44,1.57]$ and with an angular separation $\Delta R > 0.45$ , is $17.2 \pm 0.2\,\text {(stat)} \pm 1.9\,\text {(syst)} \pm 0.4\,\text {(lumi)} $ $\text {\,pb}$ . Differential cross sections are measured as a function of the diphoton invariant mass, the diphoton transverse momentum, the azimuthal angle difference between the two photons, and the cosine of the polar angle in the Collins–Soper reference frame of the diphoton system. The results are compared to theoretical predictions at leading, next-to-leading, and next-to-next-to-leading order in quantum chromodynamics.
