Abstract: This research focuses on the Body Composition Assessment (BCA) of the Air Force Personnel carried out by the Physical Fitness and Sports Sections (PFSS) and the Departments of Physical Education and Sports (DPES), regarding the prescription of specific Maintenance Physical Training (MPT). The Case Study followed the hypothetical-deductive reasoning with a qualitative research strategy, applying Enhancement. The General Objective analyzes the standardization and implementation of a protocol for the BCA, in order to propose a solution, encompassed in the physical evaluation, for prescription of MPT by the PFSS/DPES. The specific objectives are: to identify the current status of the PFSS/DPES regarding the capabilities in the area, to describe the methods to be applied and the components to be assessed in terms of efficiency, to identify the possibility of a uniformization protocol and its implementation in terms of effectiveness. The research concluded that there are gaps in the capabilities of the PFSS/DPES that can be solved by implementing certified courses and acquiring specific equipment. Finally, it is concluded that the standardization and implementation of a BCA protocol improves efficiency and promotes a positive impact on effectiveness, in a personalized prescription of MPT.

- Marital Satisfaction of Portuguese Families in Times of Social LockdownPublication . Fernandes, Carla Sílvia; Magalhães, Bruno; Silva, Sílvia; Edra, BeatrizAbstract The COVID-19 pandemic represents a global threat and crisis situation, and its wide-reaching impact has also affected marital satisfaction. Dysfunction of the marital system puts the survival of the family unit at risk. This research aimed to determine the level of marital satisfaction of Portuguese families during the social lockdown and the association between the variables under study. A descriptive, exploratory study was conducted. During the social lockdown, 276 people of Portuguese nationality and residing in Portugal were recruited using nonprobabilistic convenience sampling. Marital satisfaction in the pandemic phase showed low values that may be associated with the social, economic, and political context experienced by the pandemic situation. Future research must be carried out in order to identify, prevent, and intervene in situations of violence. In addition, future research should explore not only marital satisfaction during the current pandemic but a more systemic assessment of marital relations during crises, expanding the impact of marital satisfaction in family functioning.
- (Re)‘Thinking’ family in nursing care in pandemic timesPublication . Fernandes, Carla Sílvia; Magalhães, Bruno; Silva, Sílvia; Edra, BeatrizAim: This study aimed to identify which strategies are being adopted to deal with family restrictions in health units and assess nurses’ perceptions of including families in nursing care during the current pandemic. Background: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, health organisations limited access for visitors. Introduction: Family centred care needs to be guaranteed, and alternatives for face-toface interaction should be fostered. Therefore, there is an urgent need to rethink the family in nursing care during a pandemic. Methods: We conducted a descriptive exploratory mixed-method study in Portugal using an electronic questionnaire. The study included 192 nurses recruited using a nonprobabilistic convenience sample. The study was reported using the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology guidelines. Results: A total of 41.1% of participants (n = 79) reported that visits to their services were not authorised, and 66.7%(n=128) reported resorting to video calls because of the restrictions imposed. Regarding attitude assessment, the average score of the scale was 77.9 (SD = 10.0), ranging between 26 and 98.When analysing the different dimensions of the ‘Families’ Importance in Nursing Care - Nurses Attitudes’ scale, family data stand out as a burden. Conclusion: Although a large percentage of participants had a positive attitude towards families and tried to find strategies to maintain family centred care, many nurses still considered the family as a burden. The current COVID-19 pandemic may have aggravated this perception. Implications for nursing practice, nursing policy and health policy: The continued implementation of family centred nursing practice is essential for child-well-being, including during the current pandemic. Therefore, having intervention policies with alternative forms of care is highly recommended.
- The Portuguese National Health Service and the patient health information workgroupPublication . Lopes, Sílvia; Henriques, Susana; Silva, SílviaWorkgroup) was established under the CAIC - Comissão de Acompanhamento da Informatização Clínica (Monitoring Committee of the Clinical Information Technology) of the SPMS - Serviços Partilhados do Ministério da Saúde (Shared Services for Health Ministry) in order to meet the challenges of new models of management and governance centered on citizens. This workgroup is grounded on the national information campaign named as “Health Information. More Transparency, Better Decision”, a project of the Associação Fazedores da Mudança (The Change Makers Association) with financial support of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation). Objectives: To promote discussion topics and present concrete proposals, centered on patients, primarily related with: access to certified, reliable and useful health information; communication strategies; services to be made available on the Patient’s Portal/website. Methodology: A multidisciplinary and inter-institutional group has been constituted with physicians, nurses, sociologists, social workers, health librarians, human resource managers, lawyers and IT experts. The mission is to design and implement an action plan until December 2016. To the design of the action plan, five main axes were identified: To Know, To Listen, To Improve, To Inform and To Evaluate. Based on a worksheet created for this purpose, the multidisciplinary group identified some actions/tasks to be undertaken. As a result of all the contributions made, a possible and feasible Action Plan was created, supported by some validation criteria: to be aggregator of the presented ideas, to be mobilizers, to enhance multiplier effects, to be impactful, to be structural for future work, to enhancing participation, making awareness and calling for change. Results: Attempting on this action plan that integrates 5 major initiatives underway at a national level, we intend to achieve the following results based on multiple participatory processes, such as: i) the presentation of the resulting recommendations to the Parliament in order to change the legal framework that regulates access to health information; ii) the identification of useful information for patients; iii) the development of a program consistent of concrete action proposals centered on the patient, for more information, more transparency and better access. This paper aims to present the project and the results already achieved with its implementation.
