- Contraceptive Counseling: Construction and Validation of Instrument—“5C Contraceptive Counseling”Publication . Palma, Sara; Ayres-de-Campos, Diogo; Antunes, Mónica; São-João, Ricardo; Presado, Maria HelenaIntroduction: Contraceptive illiteracy leads to non-adherence, discontinuation, and dissatisfaction with the method. Person-centered contraceptive counseling is based on quality care on a communicative basis that promotes shared decision-making, leading to a choice adapted to the woman’s needs, lifestyle, and health condition. We intend to build and validate an instrument that serves as a guide for quality contraceptive counseling, facilitating decision-making about contraceptive methods. Methods: We used the Delphi method in a total of two rounds. The content was validated through a panel of eighteen experts with experience in teaching, research in contraceptive counseling, and obstetric nursing. To assess the consensus and stability of the responses, two questionnaires were administered and the Content Validity Index and Content Validity Ratio were calculated. Results: The initial version of the guide, consisting of six indicators and thirty-five items, was submitted to the panel of experts to obtain consensus and stability from respondents (first round). The results showed a response rate of 66.0%; thirty-four indicators reached consensus and one did not reach consensus. Suggestions for modifying the indicator were received by the experts and incorporated in the next round. In the second round, the response rate increased to 78.0%. Two indicators were resubmitted, of which one was accepted. This resulted in the final version of the instrument, with six points and thirty-five items. Discussion: The guide proved to be a valid tool for nurse–midwives to provide quality contraceptive advice to women, allowing them to make autonomous and informed choices regarding their sexual and reproductive health.
- The documentation used by the nurses during the transition from the hospital to the community setting: A scoping reviewPublication . Ferreira, Rafael Paulino Cruz Matos; Narciso, Beatriz Ferreira; Ramos, Afonso; Mendes, Sara; Palma, Sara; Ferreira, Óscar Manuel Ramos; Baixinho, Cristina LavaredaAim: This study aimed to identify the content of documentation used between hospital and community care and describe the communication mechanisms that allow the continuity of care. Design: We conducted a scoping review following the JBI recommendations. Methods: The sources of the information used were obtained from the MEDLINE and CINAHL databases (via EBSCO), Web of Science, SCOPUS, Joanna Briggs Institute and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. Additionally, grey literature was included. The databases searched from 2018 to 2023 for articles written in English and Portuguese. Two researchers independently screened articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and a third researcher adjudicated disagreements. Results: We retrieved 3217 articles, of which 5 were included. Six themes were summarised from these articles: Communication and information between clinical practice environments; Discharge letter content; The use of technologies in healthcare communication; Client empowerment in information communication; Factors hindering the safe transition of information between hospital and community; and Benefits of secure information transition between hospital and community. Implications for the profession and/or patient care: The results allow systematisation of the information that should accompany the person at the time of discharge to ensure the continuity of transitional care, including the patient/family's own perception of their difficulties and needs. Reporting method: PRISMA 2020.
- Sex Education Actions at Universities: The Creation, Validity and Reliability of a Satisfaction ScalePublication . Soto-Fernández, Irene; Perez-Perez, Jorge; Gómez-Cantarino, Sagrario; Frade, Fátima; Frias, Ana; Palma, Sara; Días, Helia; Aaberg, Vicki; Castagnaro, Elena; Mecugni, Daniela; Fernández-Cézar, RaquelHigher education is key to developing a competent and engaged society. Therefore, holistic learning is a fundamental element. This study aimed to test the validity and reliability of a questionnaire for extracurricular teaching actions in higher education. The questionnaire was delivered online to nursing and teaching students participating in the extracurricular action organized by the universities participating in the EdSeX Project, in all cases worded in English. Reliability was measured through internal consistency provided by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, yielding a value of 0.638 for the 19 items. The internal consistency for each latent variable measured by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.816 for F1 (N = 6) and 0.625 for F2 (N = 3). This means that in the applicable satisfaction questionnaire, the professor interactions and the quality of the organization of the teaching activity of the topic are the most influential elements in the training action. The questionnaire proved to have a good validity and is therefore a reliable instrument to measure the level of higher education students’ satisfaction with learning.
