Dantas, Maria Jacinta; Figueiredo, Maria; Cruz, Mariana; Barbosa, Mónica; Lebreiro, MarleneIntroduction and objectives: Evaluating the activities developed in the consultation and determining the associated workload becomes relevant insofar as it influences safety and the quality of care. The purpose of this study was to identify the assistance and non-assistance activities carried out within the scope of the consultation; determine the execution time of the performed activities and set the average time of the consultation. Methodology: An exploratory descriptive study of quantitative nature was carried out. 16 primary health care nurses of 3 health units participated in the study. The instrument evaluates three dimensions: sociodemographic characterization of the clients, nursing and non-care nursing activity that integrates the previously defined categories and actions and socio-professional characterization of the nurse. The study was carried out between February and May 2018. Data was processed using SPSS25®. Results and discussion: 103 nursing consultations were performed. It was identified that the most accomplished assistance activities belonged to the evaluation and health education categories. The documented non-care activities were the reception of the patient; infection control procedures and documentation of the provided care. The mean time of consultation was 24 minutes, the maximum time was 76,6m and the minimum time was 7, 91 m. Conclusion: Identifying what activities were carried out and determining the associated workload allows us to know what work is being done and its implications in the provided care.

- Estratégias de coping na família da pessoa portadora de esclerose múltiplaPublication . Figueiredo, Maria; Gonçalves, Eliana; Marques, Ermelinda; Vitor, Carlos; Murteiro, Ana; Lebreiro, Marlene; Rego, RuteCaring for someone is a naturally demanding task, especially when the person is physically and mentally impaired, such as a person with Multiple Sclerosis. Thus, this study aims to identify coping strategies of people identified as caregivers by the person with Multiple Sclerosis, thus understanding the way families view and adapt to this very specific chronic disease. This study is of quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional nature, with a sample of 25 Portuguese families. The F-COPES questionnaire was applied to assess the coping strategies, using the operational matrix of the Dynamic Model of Family Evaluation and Intervention, organized through a semi-structured interview. The study highlights that the person with Multiple Sclerosis is the one mostly expressing feelings (56%) and shows more initiative to solve them (52%). However, this study also shows that about 80% of families reach out to external resources. According to the strategies coping assessment using the F-COPES, 44% of the families involved in this study, agree with Social Support. However, the most adopted strategies are the reframing and passive evaluation (64%), and the least adopted is the search for spiritual support (20%). The knowledge of the adopted coping strategies by the families will enable the family nurse a more tailored intervention to the family needs.
