    O ensino e formação em saúde nas forças armadas é um tema importante e atual devido às alterações recentes e previstas no sistema de saúde militar. A adequação do ensino e formação às necessidades assistenciais e operacionais garante uma boa prestação dos serviços. Após uma delimitação do tema, pretende-se analisar o ensino ministrado aos médicos navais na Escola Naval, nomeadamente o seu currículo, e avaliar a sua adequabilidade aos requisitos operacionais na Saúde Naval. Para cumprir este propósito usar-se-á uma estratégia mista com uma “grounded theory”, recorrendo a pesquisas bibliográficas, entrevistas exploratórias, entrevistas dirigidas e um questionário. Através da análise crítica do currículo dos médicos navais na Escola Naval, comparando com o que é feito noutras forças armadas nacionais e internacionais e analisando o questionário efetuado aos médicos navais, concluir-se-á que as hipóteses colocadas inicialmente são validadas. Como será comprovado o currículo ministrado aos médicos navais poderá ter que ser alvo de uma reformulação para que as necessidades operacionais e assistenciais da saúde militar sejam atingidas. Abstract: Health education and training in the armed forces is an important and current theme due to recent changes in the military health system. The adequacy of teaching and training to care and operational needs ensures a good service delivery. After a delimitation of the theme, it is intended to analyze the teaching given to naval physicians in the Naval School, namely its curriculum, and to evaluate its suitability to the operational requirements in Naval Health. To fulfill this purpose, a mixed strategy with a grounded theory will be used, resorting to bibliographical research, exploratory interviews, directed interviews and a questionnaire. Through the critical analysis of the naval physicians' curriculum at the Naval School, comparing with what is done in other national and international armed forces and analyzing the questionnaire made to naval physicians, it will be concluded that the hypotheses initially put forward are validated. As will be demonstrated, the curriculum delivered to naval physicians may have to be reformulated to meet operational and assistance military health care.

    Higher education institutions and, particularly, polytechnic institutes in Portugal are, generally speaking, recognized as the key stakeholders in regional development. However, due to the economic recession of recent years and the consequent budget constraints, higher education institutions more than ever need to demonstrate the social and cultural impact of their activities within their communities and their contribution to its economic development. The aim of this paper is to estimate the economic impact of a group of polytechnic institutes located in regions with diverse socio-economic characteristics using a common methodology. This common framework enables a comparative study and a better identification of the variables that differentiate the different regions, the respective polytechnics and their impacts
