- Carga de trabalho de enfermagem na consulta à pessoa com diabetes mellitus: estudo preliminarPublication . Dantas, Maria Jacinta; Figueiredo, Maria; Cruz, Mariana; Barbosa, Mónica; Lebreiro, MarleneIntroduction and objectives: Evaluating the activities developed in the consultation and determining the associated workload becomes relevant insofar as it influences safety and the quality of care. The purpose of this study was to identify the assistance and non-assistance activities carried out within the scope of the consultation; determine the execution time of the performed activities and set the average time of the consultation. Methodology: An exploratory descriptive study of quantitative nature was carried out. 16 primary health care nurses of 3 health units participated in the study. The instrument evaluates three dimensions: sociodemographic characterization of the clients, nursing and non-care nursing activity that integrates the previously defined categories and actions and socio-professional characterization of the nurse. The study was carried out between February and May 2018. Data was processed using SPSS25®. Results and discussion: 103 nursing consultations were performed. It was identified that the most accomplished assistance activities belonged to the evaluation and health education categories. The documented non-care activities were the reception of the patient; infection control procedures and documentation of the provided care. The mean time of consultation was 24 minutes, the maximum time was 76,6m and the minimum time was 7, 91 m. Conclusion: Identifying what activities were carried out and determining the associated workload allows us to know what work is being done and its implications in the provided care.

- Etiologia e tratamento de queimaduras provocadas por agente químico: scoping reviewPublication . Guedes, Virgínia; Dantas, Maria Jacinta; Chiriac, George; Figueiredo, MariaIt is estimated that over 60,000 different chemicals might be used in industry, agriculture and the home environment. Chemical burns account for only 3% of the total, yet account for approximately 30% of burn deaths. The aim of the study was to identify the latest evidence on treatment of skin burns caused by chemical agents. A scope review was chosen, and articles published between 2013 and 2019 were selected. The research was conducted with the following descriptors: chemical burn* and skin burn* or skin injury or burn* care or treatment burn* and therap*. CINAHL, MEDLINE, MedicLatina and Cochrane Database were searched. The survey was conducted in January and February 2019. Eleven articles were selected, such as case studies, retrospective and prospective studies. The circumstances in which the burns occurred were workplace accidents, home accidents and personal attacks. The chemical agents used were acid and base type. The burned body area was between 30% and 0.5%. The most severe outcome was three deaths. The first-line treatment approach to the lesion was prolonged lavage or H2O. Continuity of treatment integrates systemic, topical pharmacological measures, pain control, surgical and non-pharmacological therapies. The etiology of skin burns by chemist is multiple. The treatment integrates particularities that distinguish it from other burn types, and an appropriate approach has significant results in survival and recovery of the person with chemical burn.

- Safe staffing: Conceptions of primary health care nursesPublication . Dantas, Maria Jacinta; Figueiredo, Maria; Ferreira, Ana Paula; Querido, Ana Isabel; Charepe, Zaida BorgesAIM. To know the conceptions that nurses, from Primary Health Care clinical practice, have of Safe Nurse Staffing. Safe Sta$ng is related to safe, high quality, high complexity care, in a variety of contexts. It is well established that safe nurse staffing and the quality of the practice environment are directly associated with client satisfaction, quality and safety of care, and nursing care-sensitive outcomes2. METHODS. A descriptive exploratory study of a qualitative nature was carried out, using a questionnaire with open-ended questions. An intentional sample consisting of twenty five nurses was selected. The technique of content analysis7 was used for data analysis and treatment. RESULTS. Seven categories were identified (and respective subcategories): Safety of Care; Workload; Training and Professional Development; Quality of Care; Client Characteristics; Organizational Environment; Outcomes. These results allow stating that the nurses interviewed conceive the concept of Safe Staffing, on their work context, in accordance with the dimensions described by Aiken and collaborators1,2,3. CONCLUSION. Nurses’ conceptions of Safe Staffing integrate fundamental aspects associated with this concept, and may influence the strategies developed within the scope of clinical governance.
