- Avaliação do Sucesso dos Erp’s: Uma Nova Perspectiva.Publication .
- COMMUNITY BASED TOURISM FESTIVALS IN THE MÉDIO TEJO REGION, PORTUGAL A POTENTIAL FOR THE SPECIALIZED CULTURAL CONSUMPTION OF CREATIVE TOURISMPublication . Carvalho, Rui; Costa, Carlos; Ferreira, Ana MariaCreative tourism is seen as an alternative to the serial reproduction of culture and the massive consumption of cultural tourism. Cultural and creative events have been highlighted as strong strategies for tourism development in creative tourism literature. Postmodern tourists seek meaningful experiences through a closer contact with local communities and act as co-creators of the overall creative tourism experience. Festivals can offer the opportunity for such phenomena in direct or indirect ways. In creative tourism both intangible and tangible cultural assets can be (re)activated for tourism purposes and creative add ups can be included in these events. Three community based tourism festivals are analyzed in reference to creative tourism literature and cultural capital theory. These events are characterized and creative strategies are suggested. By offering specialized cultural activities, this will enhance the cultural capital of participants, planners, local communities and help to differentiate tourism supply in the region. This paper aims at contributing to the research and development of creative tourism in the central region of Portugal, mainly the Médio Tejo region, which embodies thirteen municipalities in the center of the country.

- Enterprise resource planning adoption and satisfaction determinantsPublication . Costa, Carlos; Ferreira, Edgar; Bento, Fernando; Aparício, ManuelaEnterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are at the core of every firm. Making people use this costly and time-consuming investment is one of the most important issues to deal with. The main objective of the present study is to find the key determinants that open the door to user satisfaction and adoption. A theoretical model was set and an online survey was conducted to understand ERP users' perspective on such matters. The outcome was the model validation an dthe understanding that top management support, training, and the system quality are important constructs to assess adoption user satisfaction. Infact, thelatter (systemquality) has a significant influence on the behaviour a lintention to use and also in the overall user satisfaction. As management support is a very relevant determinant to ERP usage. Accordingly, this study enlightens theory, by contributing to a new model of ERP adoption and satisfaction. It also provides relevant evidence to companies involved in the ERP implementation process.
- ERP Conceptual EcologyPublication . Bento, Fernando; Costa, Carlos; Aparicio, ManuelaThe technological evolution of recent years has made that information systems frequently adapt to the market realities to fulfill the improvements of the company’s organizational processes. In this context, new paradigms, approaches, and concepts were disseminated through the new realities of information systems. This study aims to verify how ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) has been related to other information systems within its ecosystem. For this purpose, we have reviewed the literature based on 650 publications whose central theme was the ERP. The data were treated through a graphical analysis, inspired by SNA (Social Network Analysis), represented by related ERP concepts. The study results, determine the connection degree between the concepts that emerged with the technological evolution and the ERP, thus representing the ERP interoperability tendencies, over the last years. The study concludes that ERPs have been improving and substantially increasing the conditions of nteroperability with other information systems and with new organizational concepts that have emerged through the technological availability. This fact led to a better organizational process’s adoption and more organizational performance.
- Health, welness and medical tourism: a conceptual approachPublication . Quintela, Joana; Costa, Carlos; Correia, AnabelaNowadays, health, wellness and medical tourism are recognized as one of the most developed and growing sector of today’s thriving tourism industry that has increased its activity worldwide, due to a lot of social and economic circumstancies that leads people to achieve and pursue a better quality of life. However, these kind of tourism face a multitude of challenges and one of that challenges is the discrepance on its different conceptual approaches and definitions. A literature review on this topic with a descriptive, comparative and exploratory nature was conducted, building a theoretical framework on this field of study. Units of meaning for the definition of the concept categories were elected, which allowed to reflect and sintetize the different approaches to the topic. This analysis brought other perspectives of identification and description of distinct themes, including a few issues about health, wellness, medical tourism, wellbeing and quality of life. Therefore, the main goal of this paper is to summarize and clarify this complex and sweeping concept that assumes in a prominent role in the global context of tourism and results in a concise overview of the literature produced on the subject towards a small contribution to a better understanding of the concept.

Abstract: The Management of staff of the Air Force uses two systems to support its activities, the Single Process and the Information System and Management of the Personnel Area. These systems are directly related, since the personal file is the file that contains all of personal documents (originals or certified copies), which originate the records in the Information System and Management in the Personnel Area to prove its authenticity. Over the recent decades, these two information systems have evolved to exploit new technologies in order to reduce the bureaucracy and the loss of time required for the data transmission among the various decision-making bodies. This work followed the research method for social sciences, by Raymond Quivy and Luc Van Campenhoudt. It starts with a central question, some questions derived from the initial on and hypotheses that are tested and might solve the proposed problem. In this line of action, this work aims to study the advantages of having an automatic interface between the Individual Process and the Management Information System in the Personnel Area. In the research carried out, Air Force publications, books, interviews, internal documents and papers published on the Internet were used.
- Review of the theoretical underpinnings in the creative tourism research fieldPublication . Carvalho, Rui; Costa, Carlos; Ferreira, Ana MariaDespite the rising number of creative tourism publications, creative tourism is still emerging as a recent research area. Its study ranges from urban cities to rural areas implicating different uses for creativity, culture, events, creative networks and the co-creation of experiences. This paper had the goal to focus on the main theoretical subjects of creative tourism as a research area. As a result, the authors pinpoint vital issues present in creative tourism literature even though its definition is still evolving. After a thorough literature review, the authors conceptualised three main theoretical contributions present in creative tourism literature: 1) creativity and its relation to tourism, (2) specialised consumption as a characteristic of the postmodern tourist and 3) the experience economy paradigm and co-creation. This study identifies the main theoretical underpinnings of creative tourism, which made this special interest tourism gain so much importance in recent years.
