Abstract(s)
projetavam e executavam estas obras, menosprezando visivelmente a arquitetura. Eram
acompanhar o desenvolvimento e a evolução do desporto e do meio urbano, e compactuando
sociedade e no urbanismo.
transformarem cidades inteiras positivamente.
Portugal.
ABSTRACT Portugal, always presented itself as a carefree country when it came to the theme Sport, compared to other European member states, reflected in the design of sports equipment of municipal or lower dimensions. These, because they were despised, were conceived with the simple function of serving the local population in the recreational sphere, presenting deficiencies of knowledge and investigation on the part of the technicians who projected and executed these works, visibly despising the architecture. They were deployed on the ground, and replicated, regardless of the surrounding, the needs of the local community and the athlete himself. Originating in this way, unpleasant, unsightly, non-architectural, repetitive constructions with standard programs and typologies, incapable of following the development and evolution of sport and the urban environment, and compacting with the scarce interest of the people. In recent years, and through studies related to the importance of sport in the individual, there was an awareness of the issue. These moments of awareness have already been witnessed in important archaic civilizations that have absorbed this positive impact of sport in society and have become part of the history of the development of sport and its influence on society and urbanism. Although this valorization of sport took place, local power began to provide more funds to serve the population of sports areas, but these continued to present themselves as purely functional buildings with no architectural value. Underestimating the repercussion that sports architecture could have on a particular community or city. Through an in-depth investigation, it is intended to understand the reality of these buildings in Portugal, in detail. Taking into account programs, typologies and parameters that are not usually valued in the design of a sports equipment, such as the normative strategy in sport taking into account the various supports and models, as well as their pathologies. It is tried to show, through reference buildings, that the architecture of the same ones can be explored as a decoy, to have a morphological concept, as with buildings with other functionalities, to the point of transforming whole cities positively. The importance of the relationship between form and function and the valorization of both are emphasized, something that does not happen in the design of sports equipment. As a result of the investigation, the project results in the theoretical fragmentation of the dissertation. In this case, in the project of a Sports Center for the district of Viana do Castelo, implanted in the parish of Darque. Where we will try to respond to the problems presented, to the predominant needs mostly in Portuguese territory, and especially, to assign a new form of architecture to this type of buildings. It seeks to grant more quality, diversity and value to the local sport, its users and the individual itself, and inducing the reformed idea of the architecture of standard sports buildings. In this dissertation, an initial attempt was made to retain information about the development of sport and its influence on the individual and society in the short, medium and long term. Addressing all the strands that were considered as of important knowledge for the design of a sports building. In order to be able to follow the evolution of the sport in the long term, contrary to what has happened in Portugal. The importance of sporting equipment in urban and social development, and the urban environment and community in the equipment itself, as well as the relevance of the local power awareness in this theme, is highlighted. All of them are considered of high importance for the design of a sports building, which were once ignored, resulting in pathological buildings, outdated and uncomfortable for users. In the second part of the dissertation, buildings are selected as case study later analyzed and separated into two distinct groups. Group A, dedicated to the study of typology and program of buildings, and group B dedicated to the study of the architectural morphology of buildings with different social and cultural functions. More generally, this analysis seeks to show that sports buildings designed in the last decades, where the form followed the function, can also be designed as buildings where the function follows the form. Subsequently, an introduction and analysis of the site of the building, in this case the parish of Darque, is carried out so that it can be solidified taking into account the characteristics of the surroundings, the needs and needs of the parish and the district. In this third part of the dissertation, through all the obtaining of knowledge resulting from the research executed and presented, an introduction to the project of the Sports Center of Viana do Castelo is carried out. In another document, the drawings are then displayed, where the base and execution project of the building in question is located. This dissertation intends to give special attention to the importance of the athlete as an individual, of the local needs, of the lack of reviving the concept of Sports Architecture in Portugal, avoiding the result of the standardization of obsolete and pathological sports equipment. It also shows that it is possible to value architecture in this type of equipment in the same way that equipment with other functions is valued, and that, like these, sports equipment can also transform cities positively. In this way, the design of the Sports Center of Viana do Castelo emerges as a response to the pathologies and gaps presented in this dissertation regarding the sport architecture in Portugal, both functionally and formally.
