O presente Trabalho de Investigação Aplicada procura analisar “A utilização de Novas Tecnologias no Moderno Campo de Batalha”. Para tal, procede-se a uma análise da utilização do Sistema de Informação e Comunicação Tático no 2º Batalhão de Infantaria Mecanizado de Rodas, a fim de compreender de que forma as Tecnologias de Informação contribuem para o cumprimento das missões atribuídas e como estas auxiliam no processo de Comando e Controlo. O trabalho de investigação aplicada tem por objetivo analisar os sistemas que se encontram em utilização e desenvolvimento, no que concerne às Tecnologias de Informação utilizadas pelo Exército Português para auxiliar o comandante no Comando e Controlo da sua Unidade Militar. Assim sendo, a questão central de investigação é a seguinte: “De que forma as Tecnologias de Informação influenciam o Comando e Controlo no Batalhão de Infantaria Mecanizado de Rodas?”. Como objetivos específicos pretende-se analisar a implementação de Tecnologias de Informação no Batalhão de Infantaria Mecanizado de rodas, verificar quais as vantagens ou desvantagens das Tecnologias de Informação no Comando e Controlo e confirmar de que forma o conceito de Guerra Centrada em Rede é suportado pelas Tecnologias de Informação atualmente implementadas. Atualmente, o comandante beneficia de uma diversidade de meios e de serviços, cuja finalidade é auxiliá-lo no processo de Comando e Controlo. As Tecnologias de Informação colocadas ao seu dispor desempenham um papel fundamental na condução de operações, constituindo-se como uma mais valia para o Batalhão de Infantaria Mecanizado de Rodas. A estrutura tecnológica, atualmente implementada permite aos comandantes rentabilizarem a sua ação de Comando e Controlo. Todavia, existe sempre espaço para melhoria, pois a tecnologia está em constante evolução, criando novos desafios e novas oportunidades.
The present research seek to analyze "The use of New Technologies in the Modern Field of Battle". In this way, it will be analyzed the Tactical Information and Communication System in the 2ND Battalion of Mechanized Infantry, to understand who the Information Technologies contribute to the accomplishment off assigned missions and helps in the Command and Control process. The research aim to analyze the systems that are in use and in development, referring to Information Technologies used by the Portuguese Army, to assist the Commander not Command and Control of its Military Unit. In this way the central question of investigation is "In what way the Information Technologies, Influence the Command and Control in the Battalion of Mechanized Infantry?". As specific objectives we seek to analyze the implementation of Information Technologies in the Battalion of Mechanized Infantry , after that verify which are the advantages or disadvantages of Information Technology to the Command and Control and confirm if the concept of Network Centric Warfare is supported by the Technologies Implemented. Currently the commander has at his disposal a diversity of means and services, whose purpose is to assist him in the Command and Control process. The Information Technologies placed at his disposal plays a fundamental role in the conduct of operations. Constituted as an added value for Battalion of Mechanized Infantry of Wheels, being that the technological structure currently implemented, it allows the commanders to monetize their action of Command and Control. However, there is always space for improvement, as technology is constantly evolving which creates new challenges and new opportunities.
