Abstract(s)
Posteriormente, toda a informação
consultas
The curricular internship was held at Centro Veterinário de Estremoz e Vila Viçosa in the field of small animals practice, with the aim of integrating and developing theoretical and practical knowledge. Activities were carried out in various aspects of the role of veterinary nursing. A total of 168 appointments were followed up during the internship period from 2nd of June to 25th of July. Most of the appointments followed were preventive medicine (91 appointments). During the internship period, it was checked that most appointments, specifically emergency and monitoring, could have been preventable if there was a better communication with the owners during the preventive medicine appointments. In view of the shortage of time demonstrated by veterinarians to approach the various themes of preventive scope, it was intended to understand how the veterinary nurse could be an asset in this area. In this sense, a proposal for action was elaborated for the role to be played by veterinary nurses in preventive medicine in dogs. Veterinary nurses have scientific knowledge about various pathologies and given that some of them could be preventable, the proposal would be that veterinary nurses could provide information, clarifications and advice to tutors in the first phase of preventive medicine appointments. Subsequently, all relevant information would be transmitted to the veterinarian for him to continue the consultations.
