Abstract(s)
O estágio curricular foi realizado no Hospital Veterinário da Universidade Lusófona entre
março e maio de 2022. A discente esteve envolvida nas áreas da medicina interna, de diagnóstico
por imagem, das urgências hospitalares e da cirurgia, sendo que, dentro da cirurgia, participou nas
áreas da odontologia, da ortopedia e da cirurgia de tecidos moles. A aluna esteve envolvida no
pré-operatório, nomeadamente na colocação de cateter, indução do paciente, entubação, entre
outras tarefas específicas do Enfermeiro Veterinário e inerentes ao internamento de animais sob
cuidado hospitalar. Na área cirúrgica, o ventilador anestésico esteve presente em grande parte
das cirurgias às quais a aluna assistiu, como foi o caso de, por exemplo, cirurgias ortopédicas,
cirurgias ao tórax, cirurgias em pacientes com dificuldades respiratórias, cirurgias de alto nível de
dor, entre outras. Este aparelho, juntamente com as suas indicações, complexidades, possíveis
complicações e vantagens, foi objeto de estudo neste relatório. Este tem vindo a evoluir ao longo
dos anos, demonstrando ser uma mais-valia na área da medicina, visto que, quando utilizado cor-
retamente e nas circunstâncias que assim o demandam, torna-se o decisivo para a vida do paci-
ente.
The curricular internship took place at the Veterinary Hospital of Universidade Lusófona between March and May 2022. As an intern, the student was involved in the areas of internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, hospital emergency care unit and surgery, being that, within this field, she participated in the areas of dentistry, orthopedics, and soft tissue surgery. The student was involved in the surgical preoperative period, namely in catheter placement, patient induction, in- tubation, among other tasks specific to the Veterinary Nurse and inherent to the admission of animals under hospital care. In the surgical area, the anesthetic ventilator was present in most of the surgeries attended by the student. This device, along with its indications, complexities, possi- ble complications, and advantages, was the object of study in this report and in the student's final internship. This has been evolving over the years, proving to be an asset in the field of medicine, since, when used correctly and in the circumstances that demand it, it becomes decisive for the patient's life.
