- Collage as a visual method for studying the transformations of migrants identityPublication . Kolodii, Larysa; Kocogullari, DilayThis work employs collage as a visual narrative method to investigate the transformations of migrant identity within a cross-cultural context. The study is based on the idea that migrant identity is not fixed, but continuously reshaped by cultural interaction, experiences of loss and the search for new meanings of belonging. The study explores the potential of collage as a tool for both research and practice, enabling the visualisation of processes of hybridity and the emergence of a 'third space' — a metaphor for cultural synthesis and self-redefinition. The research involved pilot and final collage workshops, demonstrating that visual methods can reveal aspects of identity that are often inaccessible through verbal approaches. The study's primary outcome is a practical guide for conducting collage workshops, comprising detailed instructions, ethical guidelines, and interpretation examples. This guide makes the method accessible to researchers, social workers and cultural organisations, creating new opportunities to support migrants in their processes of self-understanding and integration.
