- Assessment of the green port energy roadmap and managementPublication . Costa, Pedro Miguel Costa; Agreira, Cristina Isabel Ferreira Figueiras Faustino; Pestana, Rui José Oliveira da NóbregaIn a world that is constantly changing and where sustainability becomes a common ob- jective, it is necessary to follow European targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The transport sector, mainly maritime, known as one of the most polluting in the world, means it is necessary to implement solutions to reduce the sector’s ecological footprint. Current solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships involve the adop- tion of less polluting fuels such as LNG, ammonia, biofuels, hydrogen, fuel cells, or batteries for energy storage and the implementation of power supply systems at ports. When ships are docked in ports, they use their auxiliary diesel generators to provide the energy necessary to power essential systems during the loading and unloading processes. The present work has as its object of study the port of Sines, with the objective of quanti- fying the port’s energy needs, analyzing possible sources of renewable energy to satisfy its consumption using storage, as well as analyzing the electrical coupling of the port ships. This means that all the energy necessary for the operation of the port and that supplied to ships is 100% renewable.
