Abstract(s)
O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar a integração do Carro de Combate Leopard 2 A6 na Força Terrestre de Próxima Geração, tendo em conta as exigências do Futuro Ambiente Operacional. Trata-se de uma investigação de natureza qualitativa e indutiva, estruturada como um estudo de caso e sustentada por análise documental e entrevistas semiestruturadas a entidades com experiência relevante. A investigação permitiu selecionar e ordenar as modernizações a implementar no Leopard 2 A6, explorar abordagens para a modernização da frota e propor linhas de ação que contribuam para a sua inserção na estratégia de modernização do Exército. Os resultados demonstram que a modernização é essencial para preservar a sua relevância operacional, sobretudo através da incorporação de tecnologias emergentes e disruptivas que potenciem a eficácia em combate e a interoperabilidade com forças aliadas. Conclui-se que, para garantir a integração eficaz do Carro de Combate Leopard 2 A6 na Força Terrestre de Próxima Geração, é necessário adotar uma abordagem estratégica abrangente, que transcende a mera introdução de atualizações tecnológicas. Esta deve incluir o acompanhamento da evolução tecnológica internacional, a modernização das estruturas de apoio, a antecipação da obsolescência da plataforma e a participação em projetos comunitários de desenvolvimento de futuras plataformas.
The aim of this study was to analyse the integration of the Leopard 2 A6 Main Battle Tank into the Next Generation Land Force, considering the demands of the Future Operational Environment. This is a qualitative and inductive investigation, structured as a case study and supported by document analysis and semi-structured interviews with entities holding relevant experience. The research enabled the selection and prioritisation of the modernisations to be implemented on the Leopard 2 A6, the exploration of approaches to fleet modernisation, and the proposal of courses of action to support its integration into the Army’s modernisation strategy. The results demonstrate that the modernisation is essential to preserve its operational relevance, particularly through the incorporation of emerging and disruptive technologies that enhance its effectiveness in combat and interoperability with allied forces. It is concluded that, to ensure the effective integration of the Leopard 2 A6 Main Battle Tank into the Next Generation Land Force, a comprehensive strategic approach is required, going beyond the mere introduction of technological upgrades. This should include monitoring international technological developments, modernising support structures, anticipating platform obsolescence, and participating in community-based projects for the development of future platforms.
