O presente estudo analisa a utilidade institucional dos websites de notícias sem publicidade, dentro do atual panorama de mediação em rede em Portugal, focado nos assuntos de defesa e das Forças Armadas, através de questionários, entrevistas e análise de websites e respetivos posts tanto institucionais como não institucionais, nacionais e alguns estrangeiros. Apesar de grande diferença na adesão aos novos media, por parte das instituições da estrutura da Defesa Nacional, é já visível abertura à comunidade permitindo alguma interação com o público. Os websites não institucionais analisados contribuem para a literacia em assuntos de defesa e, em alguns casos, suplementam a informação disponibilizada formalmente. Concluindo-se que muito pode ainda ser feito no sentido de sensibilizar o público, tanto interno como externo, para os assuntos de defesa, sem filtros e sujeições à mediação jornalística e respetivos condicionalismos, permitindo potenciar a captação e retenção de recursos. Abstract: This study analyzes the institutional use of ad-free defense and military news websites, within the current network mediated panorama in Portugal, through questionnaires, interviews and analysis of websites and posts both institutional and non-institutional, national and some international. Despite the big difference in adherence to social media by the institutions of the national defense structure, it is already visible openness to the community allowing some interaction with the public. Non-institutional websites analyzed contribute to the literacy in defense matters and, in some cases, supplement the information provided by the institutions. Concluding that much can be done to raise awareness, both internal and external, for defense matters without filters and journalistic mediation, allowing to enhance the attraction and retention of resources.
