Abstract(s)
An increase in the consumption of electronic products worldwide has led to new environmental and operational practices, with the aim of increasing the life cycle of products and optimizing natural resources. This paper takes place in a labor environment, and the goal is to analyze the circularity of the products returned by the customers of a telecommunications operator in the reverse logistics operation, with the purpose of ascertaining the reasons for returns, the existing operational processes and activities and the treatment and final destination of these products. The research strategy used is a case study with data from the 2nd semester of 2018, using techniques of collecting information from observation, interview, and document analysis. The analysis made it possible to determine that the main reasons for returning are end-of-use or end-of-life products, observing that most products returned have evidences of use or are part of the discontinued product portfolio, and represent the largest volume and value in inventory. The analyzed data demonstrates that at an operational level the various activities existing in the reverse flow of the supply chain are identified, but there is a need to implement a strategy based on the principles of circular economy in order to allow the useful life of products to be extended and to evolve to a more transparent and efficient reverse logistics operation.
