Abstract(s)
A liderança é fundamental em qualquer organização, visto que é precisamente
através desta que os objetivos organizacionais são concretizados, resultando, portanto, no
sucesso da organização. Atualmente, e devido à enorme evolução tecnológica, as
Tecnologias da Comunicação são uma realidade no seio das organizações, introduzindo-se
o conceito de e-liderança, de e-líder e de e-equipa, passíveis de serem aplicados ao
contexto organizacional da Guarda Nacional Republicana.
Tendo em consideração a atualidade do assunto, torna-se uma mais-valia estudar e
compreender quais as especificidades da utilização das Tecnologias de Comunicação no
contexto do exercício da liderança, bem como os seus resultados e impactos nos
subordinados. Por conseguinte, o presente trabalho apresenta como objetivo geral
compreender de que modo é que as ferramentas das Tecnologias de Comunicação auxiliam
e afetam o exercício da Liderança dos Oficiais da Unidade de Controlo Costeiro da Guarda
Nacional Republicana. Contudo, e para melhor orientar a investigação, foram definidos
objetivos específicos, designadamente: identificar quais são as maiores diferenças entre um
Líder e um e-Líder; compreender qual é a importância de uma boa comunicação para o
exercício da liderança; compreender e analisar quais são as Tecnologias de Comunicação
que têm um maior contributo para o exercício da Liderança, dentro da Unidade de Controlo
Costeiro da Guarda Nacional Republicana; identificar e compreender quais são as
potencialidades das Tecnologias de Comunicação no contexto da Liderança; e identificar e
compreender quais são as vulnerabilidades das Tecnologias de Comunicação no contexto
da Liderança.
A base lógica da presente investigação é o método dedutivo, visto que a abordagem
apresentada ao longo do trabalho é baseada em premissas verdadeiras e já conhecidas,
objetivando-se a obtenção de uma conclusão necessariamente verdadeira. Com o intuito de
sustentar as nossas conclusões, procedemos à análise documental e à aplicação de
inquéritos por entrevista, bem como à análise qualitativa do seu conteúdo.
No final da presente investigação, conclui-se que as Tecnologias de Comunicação são extremamente benéficas no exercício da liderança no contexto da Unidade de Controlo
Costeiro da Guarda Nacional Republicana, pois promovem uma liderança eficaz através do
fomento das relações entre líder e subordinados e da célere troca de informações entre
ambos. Porém, foram também identificadas algumas vulnerabilidades, as quais se
relacionam, essencialmente, com o caráter digital e indireto da comunicação que é
estabelecida entre o líder e os seus subordinados, tal como com a possibilidade de uma
eventual falha durante o funcionamento dessas tecnologias, o que afeta negativamente o
desenvolvimento das várias operações por parte dos subordinados.
Leadership is crucial in any organization, since it is precisely through leadership that the organizational objetives are achieved, therefore resulting in the organization’s success. Nowadays, and due to the gigantic technological evolution, Communication Technologies are a reality within organizations, introducing the concept of e-leadership, eleader and e-team, which can be applied to the organizational context of the Guarda Nacional Republicana. Considering the current relevance of the subject, it is crucial to study and to understand the specificities of the use of Communication Technologies in the context of the exercise of leadership, as well as its results and impacts on subordinates. Therefore, the main objective of the present work is to understand how the Communication Technologies’ tools help and affect the leadership exercise of the Officers of the Coastal Control Unit of the Guarda Nacional Republicana. Nonetheless, and to better guide the research, specific objectives were defined, namely: to identify the major differences between a Leader and an E-Leader; to understand the importance of a good communication for the exercise of leadership; to understand and to analyze which Communication Technologies have a greater contribution to the exercise of Leadership, whithin the Coastal Control Unit of the Guarda Nacional Republicana; to identify and to understand the potential of Communication Technologies in the context of Leadership; and to identify and to understand the vulnerabilities of Communication Technologies in the context of Leadership. The rationale of the present investigation is the deductive method, since the approach presented throughout the present work is based on true and already known premises, aiming at obtaining a necessarily true conclusion. In order to support our conclusions, we proceed to documentary analysis and to the application of interview surveys, as well as to the qualitative analysis of their content. At the end of the present investigation, we concluded that Communication Technologies are extremely beneficial in the exercise of leadership in the context of the Coastal Control Unit of the Guarda Nacional Republicana, since they promote effective leadership, particularly by promoting relations between the leader and his subordinates and by allowing faster information exchanges between them. However, some vulnerability was found, which essentialy relate to the digital and indirect nature of the communication that is established between the leader and his subordinates, such as the possibility of a possible failure during the operation of these technologies, therefore negatively affecting the development of the subordinates’ operations.
