dc.description.abstract	Este trabalho teve como objectivos caracterizar a Agricultura Sustentável e especificamente uma das suas vertentes, a Agricultura biológica, e comparar economicamente parcelas de olival neste modo de produção e em modo de produção convencional. O estudo foi realizado numa exploração Agrícola localizada no Distrito de Portalegre e teve como principais indicadores económicos os custos das podas e trituração da lenha resultante, fertilizações, tratamentos fitossanitários e colheita e as receitas provenientes da venda da azeitona para conserva e produção de azeite, durante as campanhas de 2005 a 2007. Dos resultados obtidos podemos concluir que o olival biológico apresenta menores custos de produção que o olival convencional, nomeadamente no que se refere aos custos com tratamentos fitossanitários e fertilização. Por outro lado, o olival biológico produz cerca de 50% menos que o olival convencional. Do balanço de rentabilidade realizado podemos concluir que, na ausência de incentivos estatais à agricultura biológica e uma vez que os preços de mercado ainda não diferenciam significativamente os produtos dos dois modos de produção, o modo de produção convencional apresenta um maior retorno económico comparativamente ao modo de produção biológico, conduzindo a um lucro superior em 60 a 110 /ha. No entanto e considerando a existência dos apoios nacionais e comunitários à agricultura biológica, garantidos no mínimo até 2013, a situação inverte-se, passando o olival conduzido em modo de produção biológico a ser mais interessante do ponto de vista económico, com um lucro superior em 70 /ha relativamente ao obtido no olival conduzido em modo de produção convencional.	por
dc.description.abstract	The main goal of this work was to characterize the Sustainable Agriculture and specifically one of its types, the organic farming, and compare economically two types of olive production, the organic and the conventional. The study was conducted in an agricultural farm located in Portalegre District and had as main economic indicators the costs of pruning and grinding the resulting firewood, fertilisation, plant treatment and harvest and revenue from the sail of the olive and olive oil production, during the 2005, 2006 and 2007. The results suggest that organic mode of production presents lower costs than the conventional mode, particularly in relation to the costs with pesticide treatments and fertilization. On the other hand, the organic olive grove produces about 50% less than the conventional one. With the balance of profitability achieved we can conclude that in the absence of oficial incentives for organic farming and once the market prices do not significantly differentiate the products of the two modes of production, the conventional mode of production presents a greater economic return compared to the organic production mode, leading to a profit higher by 60 to 110 / ha. However, if we consider the existence of national and community economic support for organic farming, guaranteed at least until 2013, the situation reverses itself, and the olive grove conducted in organic farming becomes more interesting in economic terms, with a higher profit in 70 / ha, compared to that achieved in olive conducted in conventional mode of production.	por
