Abstract(s)

The applicability of these measures depends on the standard use of the building and its category of risk. This dissertation addresses the requirements in the structuring and training of the various elements that have responsibilities in fire safety, due to the importance and the legal duty in buildings, to have an internal structure capable of dealing with and mitigating the human and material damages resulting from an emergency situation. In order to complement this dissertation, a practical case is presented, with measures for the organization and management of fire safety, at the Hotel Tivoli, located in the historic center of the city of Lagos. Having been built on a date prior to the publication of the new legislation, it was therefore checked to see what aspects might have to change in order to comply with the new legislation.
