Abstract(s)

Through a case study, the “CSI: Longines Global Champions Tour” event, one realizes that opportunities and strategies can be planned to take advantage of this growing potential. The basis of this research is supported by a careful bibliographical review, in the analysis and study of the destination Cascais, in the auscultation of interviews with elements associated with sports events and hotel industry in the direct observation of the event under analysis. Although the focus is on a single event, it was also analyzed the offer of sports events in the region, realizing that there is a concerted strategy for this offer to fit and contribute to the vision and image intended for the destination. Sports events certainly have an important impact on local hospitality, but their relevance to the sustainability of this sector is the starting point of this research, in order to know concretely what benefits this link can convey and how best potentiate them.
